Works but only after some jury rigging
The message pad arrived in a timely manner and was packaged very nice. Everything looked to be quality made, but when I inserted it into the 360 controller it didn't work. I reseated it and tried a couple of times to make sure that it was connected correctly, but to no avail.I then took it out of the darkened living room (I use a projector) and in the light of the kitchen I noticed that along with headphone plug there were 4 metal leads (like on a sim card or a memory card for a camera). However, one of the leads wasn't flat against the plastic plug, causing it to push up along the outside of the controller every time you tried to attach the message pad. I tried everything I could to get it to lay flat, but only had some success with a soldering iron. I had to melt the plastic under the lead and then push the lead into the melted plastic. Now it works, but it doesn't look pretty. I would have sent it back but shipping is almost as much as this thing is worth.I give it 3 stars because I did get it to work, and maybe if I had looked more closely at the plug I would have noticed the lead was bent and would have been able to do something minor to fix it before all the attempts made it stick out further.

Love this!! Does as promised and more
I could care less about the "brand name" if it does the same thing, and this does (except, apparently, it has no back-light, which I could honestly care less about...seems a bit distracting and I don't need one anyway. For $20 less I can deal!!) plus more. By more I mean that this fits PERFECTLY in my hands, and perfectly on the remote. It needs to really be snapped in, so before you come on and say it doesn't work, be sure it's clicked in there good. I absolutely HATE typing on the Xbox, and now that is no longer a problem. I have no reason to ever take it off, and it even has another input on the bottom of it so it does not take up the headset input. I have not used it with a headset. Bottom line, it takes nothing away from the controller, adds hardly any weight (since there are no batteries) and fits perfectly in my hands still, it is barely even noticeable. Great deal!! I am going to be posting some pictures as well.

ok
got this mostly for typing signs in minecraft and being able to message friends more quickly. if you're gonna be using the special characters and all that, this is not really what you want. it's incredibly hard to read and find every character you want. it doesn't bother me that much, but if i'd known that before buying, i might not have. it's also a little hard to attach it; make sure it clicks all the way in or it won't work. this is an ok purchase. i've had this thing for 3 years now and it does what it's supposed to, even if it's a little slow to learn where all the characters are.

Bought used, does the job.
It's bigger than you'd expect. It doesn't completely fit between the controller handles that stick down, but actually overlaps them a bit. The buttons just squish down instead of offering any click or tactile feedback to acknowledge being pushed, so I usually have to look down and type and then look up to make sure the message is correct. With that being said, I think this product does a good job of increasing the speed of messaging. As a Destiny player, I'm constantly messaging others from Reddit to make Raid fireteams and this makes it quick and easy.

Works good.
I have been using This chat pad ever since i got it. I use to have the Microsoft Light up chat pad. I loved it until it started shockingme and then stopped working. But this one may not light up but it works good. I have no Problems as long as I got it clicked in and plugged in to the mic out put on the controller. The only reason I give 4 out of 5 is because the plug that plugs into the controller is a little wobbly but it still work just fine.

Good enough.
We had a little difficulty getting this to seat properly with the controller which lead to a bit of frustration; however, once we pressed harder to hear a second click, the device connected just fine. Typing is easy and much more convenient over trying to use the native XBox interface on the screen.Occasionally, my son will say that it misses a key. (He hits the button but does not register.) I have not experienced this myself but don't use very often.

Good idea, mediocre execution.
If you use your XBox to watch Netflix, YouTube, or anything else with a "search" feature, you need this. It's as easy as typing without having to use your XBox controller to select each letter individually. Plugs right into the XBox controller and still has an available jack to plug your headset into.UPDATE: The "available headphone jack" doesn't actually work. If this text-pad is plugged into the controller, the headphones will plug in, but won't actually work. Also I have noticed that when I plug the keypad into the controller, it often doesn't fit snugly and won't allow me to type. I usually have to disconnect it and plug it back in again to make sure that it 'clicks' into place.

Good, old school tech.
I chose this product as an easy way to use the online capability offered by various Xbox 360 apps. The buttons are a bit small, but not difficult to manage. However, the product I'd purchased indicated that the keypad would light up momentarily when a key is pressed (for darkened rooms). Mine does not, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. It's well made and works with standard controllers easily. A must for those not interested in buying the Kinect sensor.
