They should work fine on acoustical, acoustical-electric, or even electric guitars. I am using these on all of my guitars. They are called "Silk & Steel" as the outer layer is a combination of a silk & steel interwinding over a steel core. Obviously the unwrapped strings are steel only. These strings produce a mellow tone and I also like the fact that they are silver-colored instead of brass. The silk makes them a bit easier on your fingers and quieter when sliding your fingers. **Q: I have an acoustic wide neck guitar with nylon strings. Can I put metal strings on my guitar? They are more bright.** A: Sounds like your "acoustic wide neck guitar" is a classical guitar. If so, you should stick with nylon. There are lots of different brands and types of nylon strings. If you are not liking the sound you are getting, try a different brand and weight. If you want to change to steel strings, you should get a guitar intended to use steel strings. Just FYI, these silk and steel are pretty mellow ("warm").
