Q: How does the bar extend to 51”. My bar only goes to 37”

the curved bar has 2 smaller bars in each end. each end comes out to whatever length you need it. i believe you need to twist the ends to unlock them to extend the bar. as i needed mine for a smaller space, i actually took those bars out to make it fit. works great! i used the glue to fasten the ends to tile and it holds nicely.

I just used the adhesive provided and it has held for over 2+ years

I would say, most assuredly, "No.". I used screws and also purchased a Ceiling-Mounted Curtain Rod Support Bracket on Amazon, and it has been 100% trouble-free.
