Review: Good Compact Penetrometer Tester - This is a very simple to use device that comes with instructions printed on a handy case so you never lose them, but honestly, it is very simple to use, just press the tip into the soil until you reach the line on the tip and then read the washer on the gauge. I haven't been able to test this against actual engineered soil borings but if I can I will come back to report and edit this post.

This is a very simple to use device that comes with instructions printed on a handy case so you never lose them, but honestly, it is very simple to use, just press the tip into the soil until you reach the line on the tip and then read the washer on the gauge. I haven't been able to test this against actual engineered soil borings but if I can I will come back to report and edit this post.

Great product at a much reduced price from normal survey or engineering supply houses. Same great quality with fast shipping. Carry sheath is a little flimsy but does not detract at all from the quality of the tool.
