Nice and sturdy cables!
I recently realized my old/original jumper cables had developed a considerable amount of damage to the rubber coating on their wires, and set out to find a good replacement. I figured if I was replacing them it was worth finding a good pair, because although the ones I had did serve their purpose, there were featured I felt could have been improved upon (but for reference the originals came in an emergency kit I received a decade and a half ago!).One huge problem with my first cables had been the length- they were only ten feet, which doesn't give much to work with when you need to consider placement of batteries in engine compartments, and differences on vehicle height. The overall weight of the original cables was pretty light too- I would estimate they probably were a ten gauge wire. At the clamps, the handles weren't coated for protection but merely had flimsy, thin sleeves. The ends had some sort of a non-straight edge, but nothing that really looked like teeth- as a result, they were difficult to secure at times.I never thought I'd be literally excited by getting jumper cables in the mail, but these bad boys mean business! They weigh far more than my first set, and the clamps are well coated. The polarity (+\-) of each clamp is not only indicated on each clamp, it's literally forged into the handle shape itself. That makes these seem far safer for a wide range of users. The cables are clearly much thicker, and the teeth on the clamps look like Jaws in comparison. I feel comfortable that the length of these cables will make just about any scenario where a jump start is required feasibly possible. I really can't comment on amperage of my old cables versus these other than to say that I'm pretty sure they were not 400 amp. The carrying case is nice, and seems decently well made. Big thumbs up to the manufacturer for not only putting directions on the tag hanging off the cables but also on the back of the carrying case.I attached a photo of my old cables versus these ones for quality comparison.

Great to have in the truck. 20' length is very nice.
These are quality cables. I keep a set of them in my pickup truck. The 20' length is very nice. The couple of times that I have used them they have performed flawlessly. Then coil them back up into the storage bag. I have not had any problems at all with them. This particular set was purchased for my daughter who just bought her first car. I am so satisfied with the set in my truck that I took the time to go out, look at the brand, and then look for a duplicate set online. Looking at these they seem to be exactly like the set in my truck. I wanted to make sure that if my daughter needs a jump she has her own set of cables, knows how to use them, and that they will work.

006 ohms per cable they are good for up to about 250 amps before voltage IR ...
Jumper cables are well made. I was curious to see if the wire was solid copper or copper plated aluminum. I made four point resistance measurements and found out the red cable had a resistance at 73 F of 0.0061 ohms and the black cable had a resistance of 0.0058 ohms. Taking an average gives a resistance of 0.00595 ohms. This translates to a resistance of 0.298 ohms if the cable was 1000 feet long., 1000 feet of AWG 2 copper wire has a resistance of 0.156 ohms at 68 F. 1000 feet of AWG 2 aluminum wire has a resistance of 0.256 ohms at 68 F. The cables are clearly not solid copper. It is curious that my measurements are closer to AWG 3 aluminum wire at 0.323 ohms per 1000 feet at 68 F. I could speculate that the cables are actually AWG 3 aluminum and the copper plating lowers the resistance to where I measured it. With a resistance of about 0.006 ohms per cable they are good for up to about 250 amps before voltage IR drop becomes so much the voltage is too low at the load end. In any event, the cables are still a good value and I gave them five stars. I was just curious about the wire.

Decent JUmper Cables
Cheaply made as are pretty much all jumper cables now. These can be difficult to clamp on due to the way the clamps are made (very short clamp and a silly copper thing sticking out that gets in the way. Still these are better than any other new cables I have been able to find and they do carry the power well once you get the clamp securely attached. They are certainly better than the ones that you buy in most stores where the wire is so thin it barely carries any power and a jump takes forever. These are also nice and long as advertised.

The Rolls Royce of Jumper Cables at Ford prices.
Never thought I'd be thrilled with a purchase as functional and unexciting as jumper cables, but these cables are the "Rolls Royce" of jumper cables. The cables are thick and well insulated with a premium feel to them. Even more impressive are the clamps, which squeeze open wide enough to grab even the most elusive battery connection and hold like a pit bull. The 20' cord is long enough to accomodate awkward breakdowns (are there any other kind?) without taking over the entire trunk for storage. Top all of this off with a neat zippered case with clear viewing panel so you don't have to open it to remember it's your jumper cables, and you've got an easy 5-star product. They started my 2000 Ford Escort, which had been "dead" for the entire cold 6-month winter in Pennsylvania, immediately. I had previously been unsuccessful with both a plug in battery charger and bargain basement jumper cables. These are NOT expensive. They are EFFECTIVE. I'll never own a Rolls Royce, but these cables will keep my age-challenged fleet on the road. I highly recommend.

The mother of all jumper cables
I dont think you can find these cables at the local auto part store, I bought them based on reviews here on Amazon, and you all are correct. These cables are the mother of all jumper cables. I replaced the battery every 4 years regardless if the battery is still charging or not, they last about that time, but you never know when a pair of cables like this will be needed. The other I saw a poor lady at the local Home Depot store waiting for somebody with jumper cables, I felt so bad that I could not help her, so I am ready this time to help anybody out there in need of a jump. The cables are thick yet flexible, 20 feet is enough length , if you need more than that, you must driving an 18-wheeler.
