This is a great idea, but the quality is just not there in this product.To use this watermelon cutter you cut the watermelon in half, and use this knife to scoop along the core making sclices. It is made up of two curved blades and a thin wire across the top. The wire is what cuts along the core and this is the piece we had trouble with. On the first sclice the wire popped out so we put it back through the hole and bent it down so it would stay. After fixing it, it still pulled out a few times in the course of cutting the watermelon. It is safe to say that I would not purchase this againI did receive this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review, this in no way changes my opinion of the item and I do not hesitate to return and update my review after further use.

The Cuesse Watermelon Slicer and baller is well made and will be handy for summertime. I think the watermelon slicer is a great idea and neat tool, it's more of a novelty item. Don't get me wrong, it was fun and interesting when carving out watermelon pieces, but it's not much quicker than using a sharp knife. The good thing about cutting a watermelon with a knife is you get the rind which is great for holding your piece of watermelon. The baller/carver is well made and very sharp. Sculpting fruit is a breeze with this tool, but I take more joy in eating fruit instead of creating art with it so this was not handy for me. I received this as a free review sample. While I own the bonus melon baller that is included, the slicer is truly unique (at least to me because this is the first time I have seen one.My first use was on a relatively small melon to test it out. True to the photos, this easily 'excavates' melon slices. Basically, you slice in a scooping motion, squeeze the handle together with enough pressure to grip your slice and lift. I also had no problem slicing the ripe part around the edge without getting the rind and the less ripe inner edge. In that respect this makes slicing and serving watermelon fast and nearly effortless.Final notes: this is dishwasher safe, but is also a breeze to clean by hand. The slicer is kid safe as claimed,and the baller is very high quality and a nice bonus.

I received this product for a discounted price for an honest review. I received this product in a nice packing. After receiving the product I immediately opened it as I had a watermelon at home. I could cut open the slices nicely. I had few bruises to my finger, but I think it is due to my rough handling of it. I could slice the whole watermelon in about 10 minutes. After few days when I tried on the 2nd watermelon, it was more comfortable. I will use it for sure this whole summer season. I did not use the spoon he has given with the product but it can be very handy.
