In rush current can be 100's of amps. It will distort. Steady state input is very measurable. The output current during power up is limited by the regulator, and is most likely under 65 Amps. Also the current probe doesn't flat line at 65 Amps. The fan on my truck took 120 Amps peak during turn on, and the wave form didn't look clipped or distorted.
