Now you can buy a USB-connected device whose sole job is to inform you that your mouth apparently smells like you've eaten a deep-cell marine battery that was abandoned in a long-forgotten swamp.If you are part of the ketogenic movement, you owe it to yourself to purchase this device if you are interested in confirming and/or tracking your ketosis. It is far more reliable than urine test steps (and those only work early in the ketogenic process as you probably already know), and the unit pays for itself quickly when you consider the cost and bloodletting of blood ketone testing.The drawback to testing with the ketonix is that there is no real correlation between breath acetone to blood ketone levels - but that's fine, since your ultimate goal is to see whether you are actually *in* ketosis. The fact that this device can give you the level of acetone PPM in your breath is an added bonus, as it lets you graph this level throughout the day and see what foods or drinks might potentially be throwing you out of ketosis.The only downside to the product itself is the software, which is a little clunky and requires JAVA. As an IT guy, I've always thought that saying JAVA is great because it works on all platforms was a bit like saying anal sex is great because it works on all genders - but I digress.Getting past the little foibles in the software won't take long, but the software hasn't been upgraded in quite some time - so there's not much of a reason to believe that they'll upgrade it anytime soon.Now if you'll excuse me, my wife needs me to breathe on her fingers again as she is trying out a bunch of new nail polish colors.

Good luck if you can get this to work. I tried installing it on my laptop and PC and was unsuccessful on both. I have not had any problems downloading anything until now and all they have is email support and I wanted to talk to a live person and there is no phone numbers on their site at all. You just know when a computer problem is going to take you 10 or more hours to resolve and I wanted easy. So back it goes for a refund. To bad it seems like it might be a good idea if they can work out the bugs.

I REALLY wanted this product to work! IMO this product is NOT ready to be sold as a "finished" user product but as a beta test. First a list of the problems I had in just one day of use.1. The first mouth piece had a small hole that did NOT line up with the hole on the unit, so air could not flow. The 2nd mouthpiece they provided had a LARGER hole that did line up.2. They say Vaseline "might" be needed to allow the mouthpiece to slide on and off but in my case it "WAS" needed. While attempting to take the defective mouthpiece off it also partially pulled out the actual sensor unit on the tip.3. The unit seems to be made nice but the sensor and it's plastic/rubber casing are just "slid" into the metal case and NOT attached which means every time you take the mouthpiece off you risk pulling the sensor out with its wires.4. The Software is very bad.4a. Windows pop up and block other windows that are needed within the interface.4b. It would not let me create a saved data file to my hard drive without giving Ketonix access to my data, even though they say they will.4c. without saved data file the program is useless.4d. The software pops up small separate windows.4e. The "Status" updates while using the unit are VERY unclear and not description enough.5. The unit just quit working after one day. I got 3 successful reads without the software and 3 reads with the software, then the unit just kept blinking red and wouldn't do anything.6. The unit would not work and kept "blinking red" yet I couldn't find ANY info from Ketonix about what "red blinking" means.This is a product that is supposed to make life easier not waste my time and money. Should I really have to pay $160 to be a beta tester, spending all my time and money helping them debug their product. Do they really expect the customer to drill larger holes in the plastic mouthpieces to get them to work right?

Its ok. Its a neat idea but im not sure it worked consistently and I no longer use it

Pretty easy to use. Its consistent with the readings when following the instructions.

Nice device and easy to use. Software is not good yet. Reports "sensor values", so you have to convert to ppm. Then you have to convert that to mmol/L.downsides: doesn't seem to line up with blood ketone test. We're collecting more data.

This is a really good device for tracking ketones.

Ich bewerte den Ketonix nur aus Sicht eines Gesunden Menschen der in Ketose lebt. Zur Krankheitsbedingten Messung möchte und kann ich nichts sagen. Jeder der sich ketogen ernährt möchte früher oder später wissen wann er in Ketose ist oder welches Nahrungsmittel mal wieder dafür gesorgt hat das man aus der Ketose heraus fällt. Also muß man messen! Da 10 Blutketonteststreifen 30 Eur kosten, wird das Ganze auf Dauer recht kostspielig. Der Ketonix ist eine einfache und auf Dauer eine günstige Lösung. Meine Frau und ich haben dieses Gerät seit August. Jetzt kann sich jeder ausrechnen, was für Kosten bei Blutketonstreifen entstehen wenn man nur 2 X die Woche misst. Wir haben allerdings öfter gemessen- kost ja nix!! Die Handhabung ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. 1. Software runter laden. 2. registrieren und anmelden. 3 Ketonix an den USB-Anschluß des Rechners. 4 Gerät wird initialisiert. dauert und dauert.... ein paar Minuten. 5. Gerät wird calibriert (taste drücken) dauert und dauert.... ein paar Minuten. Boah- nun kann es los gehen. 6. ( das ist Übungssache) nach dem normalen Ausatmen langsam ca.15Sek den Rest der Lunge in den Ketonix pusten (langsam...). Es wird nach der Analyse ein Wert ausgespuckt und es wird eine Farbe angezeigt. Wichtig ist der Zahlenwert. Nun weiß ich ungefähr wieweit ich in Ketose bin. Der Blutwert ist etwas genauer aber vergleichbar mit dem Ketonix. Das Ganze wird auch noch aufgezeichnet und ergibt eine Kurve. Das Einzige, was etwas nervig ist: Der Ketonix muß jedesmal neu initialisiert werden(geht automatisch-dauert halt). Wird der Ketonix 48ST nicht genutzt sollte er auch wieder calibriert werden. Ich persönlich halte den Ketonix allerdings für absolut ausreichend- einfach zu bedienen und Kostensparend. Volle Empfehlung von mir.

Nicht mehr, nicht weniger. Auf Dauer eher langweilig und wenn man drüber nachdenkt viel zu teuer. Ketosticks aus der Apotheke tun es auch.
