Extreme Max 3006.6563 BoatTector Vinyl-Coated Gripper Anchor - 25 lbs.

This anchor works perfectly in the multi bottom type deal with at Smith Mountain Lake Virginia with a mostly muddy bottom but also some rocky, gravel, and sandy bottoms that mud anchors don’t work during a windy day. It is a robust, sturdy, anchor but it still fits easily in my under-seat compartment on my Bennington 23R Tri-toon.

First time out it was real windy and the water was cold but we wanted to try out our new pontoon. We went to the party sandbar we go to during warm weather and the wind was crazy. Threw this anchor in and after about 5 feet of sliding it locked in and held the pontoon perfectly. Our last anchor would have not come close to holding the boat in wind half as bad as that day.

I use the anchor with the Minn Kota Deckmate 40 anchor winch. It works perfectly with it. The anchor holds well even in current, and I have had no issues retrieving it from the bottom.

This anchor holds! Great heavy duty quality. If you have current don’t worry the grappling style of this anchor really bites into the bottom. It’s heavy and will give your arms a workout, but hey who doesn’t want to be tougher.

This is the perfect anchor to go with my minn kota deckhand 40. I should have bought it a year ago when I put my automatic anchor on my boat.

This sucker digs in hard! I'm actually afraid that I might have a hard time pulling it up sometime, but when you get directly above it, it generally releases well. At 25 pounds it's a lot beefier than some anchors, but I have NEVER drifted with it, even on windy days with a 24" pontoon. A huge improvement over our prior anchor (the double triangular spade style).

Yes, it held our fishing pontoon firmly in place. HOWEVER it is the most ridiculous weed collector and can be nearly impossible to retrieve if not on a weedless bottom! We now use a 15# mushroom anchor and even that is hard to clean off sometimes. If that's not enough to hold us in place it's time to get off the lake.
