This is one of those things that keeps an honest person honest, I think. It mounts up well to my trailer's 2" ball hitch, and only the key or a violent act of aggression will part it from my trailer. The lock feels positive and secure such as it is. If someone wants it, they're going to get it, but without spending a lot of cash, this is a good option. I use other security measures in addition to this that tell a would be perp, "this is probably too big a PITA to mess with." A schpritz of weinerschleider in the keyhole should keep it functioning nominally throughout the nasty seasons. Happy so far.

I bought this lock and then in the coming weeks I saw youtube videos pop up on my newsfeed on how incredibly easy it is to break off or unlock without the key. The metal bar is getting rusty after 2 weeks of sitting out on the trailer. I do live on the coast so things rust a lot faster but still. Ill have to replace it after a few months due to the bad quality craftsmanship. It will deter someone just by the look of it is the only reason im giving it 2 stars and not 1.

After I put this on my trailer hitch it seemed to be working as described. I tried to take it off to move the trailer and the lock would not open. I tried every thing I could, WD40, liquid wrench, etc. and to lock would not budge. I was about to try to smash it off and gave it one more try, the lock opened. I got it off of the trailer hitch and tried to lock again is it will not open again. I missed the return window, but would not recommend.

We use this hitch lock on our pop up. We have gotten in the habit of using the lock in the hitch if it is not hitched up to the truck. The lock is fairly durable. The tumbler wiggles a little, not enough to be of concern. I do appreciate the color options. This allows me to color code between trailers. The bar is high enough to work on most bumper pull trailers. The lock handles mud and water pretty well so far. It is mainly a deterrent.

Great product! Fits well and easy to use. It adds another measure of security to my trailer. I've seen thiefs pull up, try to hitch a trailer, and then get frustrated because they couldn't undo the lock.

Word of advice, Close your hitch latch before you install the locking bar. Keep the latch closed when you got to remove it. The chrome locking bar comes off easier if you trailer hitch latch stays in the locked position.

According to the trailer company owner where I bought our new trailer to replace our old pickup truck, our area in Oklahoma has a high rate of trailer thief. With this simple to use Hitch lock and a very heavy chain, I feel we will have our trailer for a long time.

The only issue I may have is the fact that the locking mechanism is almost generic and doesn't feel very secure. The key seems like anyone with a similar key could easily unlock it, but at least it's a deterrent. It stands out and anyone who really wants to steal your trailer will have the right tools no matter what you put on there. We'll see if this lock can handle the environment of being outdoors.
