We like their principle of operation. A word on the provided screws: this item is recommended to be installed on metal or vinyl posts and gate frame. Still, my husband used longer deck screws and installed them obliquely on our wooden 4x4 (dimensionnaly 3.5x3.5in.)post and was also careful in the torque applied so as not to harm the hinges because it is more advised to use pan headed screws than flat headed deck screw. I'm giving all these details to help persons who would consider this item.

A: Hello yes it can be used on the wrought iron gate. That is exactly what I used mine on. It works very well, it’s sturdy and does a good job.

**Q: Is this a pack of 2 hinges??**
A: Yes. All of Safetech hinges are sold in pairs with all the screws and Allen keys required.

**Q: will these help stop the gate from slamming shut on windy days?**
A: These hinges are self closing with the ability to adjust the closing speed. Weight of the gate with always changing wind, makes it a bit of a challenge to find the best setting of the hinge.

the quality of the materials, the provided hardware to install them and the assortment of plugs to seal the top adjustment hole, is all of very good quality and thoughtful from the manufacturer SafeTech. We like their principle of operation. A word on the provided screws: this item is recommended to be installed on metal or vinyl posts and gate frame. Great Quality, Easy to install - self aligning, Strong Spring for self closing. I contacted SafeTech to know what drill was suggested for pre-drilling. They replied overnight (WOW!) and said pre-drilling is NOT necessary but I could use 3.2mm (1/8"). I ended up NOT pre-drilling.
