This is a three piece connector: There is a main tubular connector housing with internal threads on both ends. The banana plug tip screws into the main housing The base (including color coded ring) screws into the main housing.All three pieces are gold plated.The product arrives in a small box containing 16 pairs of banana plugs individually packaged.This is a mechanical connection product and consequently I have some concerns about speaker wire oxidation within the connector.NO instructions are included with this product.Here is how I used these connectors.I stripped approximately 3/8" of insulation from each speaker lead. I removed (unscrewed) the base of the banana plug from the body, slid the speaker wire lead through the base, folded the wire over the top of the base (being careful not to fold the wire so far over the top of the base that the copper lead overlapped with the screw threads) and then screwed the base back onto the body.This process created a solid mechanical connection between the speaker wire and the banana plug.This is most likely NOT a long term solution as the speaker wire will oxidize over time (It might take a few years considering that the copper is sandwiched tightly between two gold plated surfaces).These banana plugs represent a high value solution (good price for gold plated connectors) but that does not imply this is an ideal or long term solution.I noticed that there were no customer reviews on Amazon when I purchased (or after I received) this product... I took a chance based on price. I thought it was important to give the Amazon customer community some insight into this product so that others may make an informed purchasing decision.
