The cork is way too thin though it appears to be different than the cork shown in photos, much thinner and less stiff. It's worsened as they've gotten older, as the sweat tackiness has too often caused the tips of the soles to be pulled away from the shoe when I remove my feet. I have to use fingers to stuff the tip of the sole back in the shoe.Incidentally, I discovered the 'Un-Structured' line of shoes (made by a company name that begins with 'C') with the most awesome removable soles. No smell and they don't get tacky when your feet sweat. I have a handful of pairs and although the original pair is ready to be thrown out, the soles are still usable. I had a hard time wearing most flats because of lack of arch support. I thought these might be good because cork is such a pliable material. They fit well into my low-profile flats (I took out the insoles that came with the shoes). I had to cut them just a little around the toe to fit well-- I used the old insoles as a guide. They fit well and I can tell they are molding more and more to my feet as I wear them.
