Hieronymus Bosch

This is an excellent small format edition of a perfect large edition of Complete Works of Hieronymus Bosch by Stefan Fisher. The laser-sharp quality of art reproduction is amazing. The accompanying text is perfect. And the price for this edition is also perfect. Everyone who loves Hieronymus Bosch should get this edition just to be able to look at his works anywhere at home: Other editions (the big and heavy as well as the middle sized one) require specially arranged places to read the text and appreciate the artwork, whereas this smaller edition could be looked at in the privacy of your bed, in the patio chair, or while laying on a couch.... Enjoy!

This artist is incredible, especially considering the era when he was painting. I am in no way an art expert. I first noticed some prints online and just wanted to investigate for myself. His work is confounding, disturbing, far ahead of his time and extremely detailed. I had no idea how much of his work has survived. The narrative of the book is very detailed - almost too much for my purposes and knowledge. A larger size book would have been better, I mean physical size as it is about the size of a novel. Great starter if you are interested in his work.

The pictures are so beautiful and well printed but it is the size of a normal book I thought I was getting a coffee table book but that was on me

Yes--the many of the images are small sections of larger works, but I have enjoyed studying these "up close" pages. I would recommend this excellent book to anyone interested in Bosch's work.

Just in awe at how beautiful this is. Great quality printing. The only issue I have is that the silk cord for a bookmark bled thru 2 of my pages. It was a sealed copy, so I am not going to complain (that much). I love to get lost in this book.

Beautiful book. It was smaller than I thought but still really lovely. I will probably eventually order a larger version but this is still a nice addition to the library.

I got this for my 16 year old daughter who loves art history and she was very happy with it!

El libro tiene un encuadernado de lujo, con pasta gruesa e imágenes a todo color. El Bosco fue un pintor adelantado a su época. Sus pinturas a la vez que me dan horror no puedo dejar de mirarlas, son imágenes que parecen extraídas de sueños y a veces de pesadillas, puedes amarlas u odiarlas pero no vas a ser indiferente a ellas. De mis autores favoritos, estoy contenta de haber comprado este libro.

Incredible book, with in-depth analysis of Bosch's works, as well as Bosch's life and the general artistic context of the time. Also, the pictures are beautiful, but sometimes they suffer from the small size of the pages. Nevertheless, highly recommended. Taschen never disappoints.

Bosch is one of those nearly forgotten artists who shows us what the ideas of heaven and hell were back in the 16th century. This man had a remarkable imagination for his day.
