Unreliable and unpredictable.
I really wanted to like this release. I use a trigger release now, but didn't like how the straps kept creeping up my hand, which made my anchor point inconsistent.I chose this release because of the favorable reviews and was about the right price point. However, after testing it with my 60 lbs bow, the release disengaged before I was able to draw the bow even the third of the way. At first I thought I had somehow touched the thumb release, so I tried again with none of my fingers or thumb near the thumb release and it did it again.I re-read the instructions thinking I must have somehow messed up the setup. Followed the instructions to the letter and even played with the angle of the thumb release. Adjusted the sensitivity and tried again. The first few times, it seemed to be working, but then I experienced another premature release.Thinking perhaps it was my bow itself, I constructed a tool to mimic the drawing of a bow without the actual poundages exerted by a real bow (essentially a dowel with d-loop string set to my draw length). At first, all seemed fine, when suddenly the premature release happened again. It turned out, that whenever I would twist the release a certain way, it would disengage the locking mechanism in the thumb release and open the calipers. This would happen with my thumb or any other finger no where near the thumb trigger. And yes, I made sure that the calipers where locked in place by listening to the click and testing by pulling the d-loop taught. It's possible that I may have been shipped a defective item, but not gonna take any chances. Returned item for refund and going back to my reliable trigger release for now.

Great Item from TruFire
Great product for the value. Feels great in my hand and allows for a smooth draw. Easily adjustable. The molded material is nice but a metal thumb release would be a nice upgrade from the plastic on this model.

Ordered two different ones and both were unsafe, unreliable, and unpredictable. Wouldn't pull back 10lbs of pressure from my 60lb bow. These releases could fire at anytime before you reach full draw and could obviously send the arrow in an unintended direction. $60 worth of unsafe junk.

Was disappointed of the purchase
Was disappointed of the purchase. It didn't work. Had it replaced and the replacement didn't work either. The hammer throw cant hold any tension past 5 lbs on both. Tru-fire needs some work on the quality assurance on this product.

Spend your money elsewhere.
Clasp will not stay closed, can't draw my bow back without it opening prematurely. Can't adjust it at all. Packaging came with little to NO instructions and there weren't any tools for adjustment!

Purchased this release in June really liked it at first but have had a couple of misfires same as others have discussed. While mine has performed well otherwise and helps me keep a steady shot it still is showing misfire symptoms that others are experiencing with finger no where near release/trigger.

Do not buy this release. I was excited about the Carbon approach but it miss fired every time. I could not even come close to full draw. Lost my first arrow and from there I couldn't even get the bow back far enough to throw an arrow at all. Trufire should really be considering a full recall.
