It works at very low settings. If you open the valve and the flame increases, when the metal gets red hot, it causes premature combustion and incomplete combustion, and the burner begins to emit lots of smoke and soot. I returned mine.

There is nothing more satisfying after a long hike than the sound of my 40 year-old Svea 123UR, especially in the winter. I wouldn't alter it for the world.

This nifty accessory performs exactly as claimed, significantly cutting the roar of my Dragonfly stove. Installation was easy with the supplied instructions, and the manufacturing quality is quite good.The only minor downside is that it's slightly more complex to use. The priming process is slightly more finicky, requiring more time and attention than when using the stock flame spreader. And, damper cap doesn't stay attached - it simply rests on the stove & must be removed prior to storage.All in all, this is a fantastic product and one that I would recommend highly.
