The Hay Cover is an extra heavy duty tarp that is reversible. Put the white side out if you want to reflect the sun's heat and keep things cool. Put the black side out and it will retain more heat. This tarp is popular for covering hay (blocking sunlight prevents germination). Made of polyethylene, this tarp has maximum ultraviolet-inhibiting (UVI) additive in the inner woven material and the coating, which allows it to last much longer in direct sunlight than similar tarps. The Hay Cover has grommets every 18 inches on all sides. On the two longer sides, it also has web loops every 36 inches. This provides two options for securing the tarp in place. The Hay Cover also has sewn, reinforced corners and a heavy duty 5mm rope in the hem. The material of the Hay Cover is 14X14 weave (14 threads of polyethylene either direction in each square inch) and approximately 14-15 mil thick. The approximate finish size of this tarp is 23'4" x 29'9" due to its hems and seams.

First Impression is good (SEE UPDATE)
This appears to be a well made, thick, and durable tarp. Of course, it was priced to be such, but quality costs. Only time wilil tell how it will do in the Arizona sun (hoping for 5 years), but first impression is good.UPDATE: Okay, this is an update a few years later and considerably after this has been trashed... I just didn't think to update the review before. This was used to cover the framework of an old "carport" or quonset-hut style "tent" to park my car in out of the sun. The original heavy duty fabric from the "carport" manufacturer lasted over 15 years. This one, however, did not even come close. Two years after purchase it showed obvious signs of deterioration and completely shredded in year 3. My conclusion is that it has little or no UV protection. So I'm cutting my review to 2.5 stars which rounded off has to be 3, somewhere between "It's okay" and "I don't like it". If kept out in the sun, figure on getting about 2 years tops out of it. At least in Arizona.

Sturdy
Grommets do not hold up well but the nylon loops are super. I use it for hay. I am on my second year with these. Good product, stood up to some tough weather.

update
After having wasted money on a cheap blue tarp and risking loosing my hay, I purchased this tarp. It is VERY heavy duty and is holding up great! It has heavy stitching and I don't see the grommets pulling out. Worth the extra money if your protecting something valuable!UPDATE: This tarp has done EXCELLENT for me. It has been through one of our roughest winters with unbelievable wind. My hay is dry and I see no sign of leakage anywhere. Grommets have held well. No complaints. Well worth the money!

OK tarp
In less than a month you can see pin holes of light through tarp - using us to cover a haystack - doubt it will last more than one year We will see. Does have plenty of grommets / tabs. A few are weakened already.

The tarp seems very sturdy but time will tell how good it is
The tarp seems very sturdy but time will tell how good it is. I expect it last 3 years as covering for my car port. Ask me in three years how I like and then I can give it a qualified rating.

Covered camper
We had previously bought one of these tarps to cover the boat for the winter and decided we also wanted to cover the camper with one of these heavy duty tarps, the webbing loops are terrific for anchoring these tarps securely.

Holes in tarp...ruins the weatherproof ability
This tarp has small holes in it, which are visible when you get under it and look at the light coming through it. Thus the "weatherproof ability of the tarp is BAD" These holes are in a line so that it looks like when it was made the equipment responsible for the coating failed to do its job. The tabs on the outside of the tarp are great, but what good is keeping it on during foul weather if it leaks the very first day I took it out of the package!!!!! I would have returned it. Impossible to get back into the box clean after opening it..
