Odin - Photon Space Sailer Starlight

Good movie and story.

This is actually a great classic sci-fi anime! If they re-digitize it and release it on DVD with HD clarity (instead of just dumping the VHS interlaced video to Disk), many people would buy it! I have the current DVD release and it is worse than the FREE, public domain copy offered at Archive.org ;-( Good luck!

What can I say? I'm a bit of a sucker for space opera anime The first time I saw Odin was during it's run on the Sci Fi Channel's Anime Festival and I must've watced it several times after taping it. However... it's not for everyone and I don't see the film making it in today's anime market. Your average anime fan would fing this boring and difficult to sit through. It takes about 15 minutes or more for the crew to actually make the voyage to the planet Odin. So why did I give this movie 4 stars after I just told you that the average person who saw this would hate it? Well... the story actually is interesting once the mutiny occurs. Unlike today's anime and possibly the ultra violent stuff such as MD Giest or Angel Cop, the characters are pretty damn likeable. You can sympathize with them as you watch them deal with the situations set before them as they occur. Even though I understand why so few people like Odin, I highly recommend this if you're looking for an engaging story.

I recorded this movie on the sci-fi channel and also tried watching a total of FIVE times, and fell sound asleep EVERY time...there's not much to say about it, there is no storyline, nudity, action, adventure, blood, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. USE THIS MOVIE ONLY AS A SEDATIVE!

This film combines the fun and excitement of Space Battleship Yamato with other adventure animes in space. It's easy to grasp and with okay animation. However, after poking at the plot for a while you can see it runs along the lines of a mediocre Star Trek episode, somewhat like that movie Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Even though the plot may seem a bit pokey, watch it! The soundtrack is vibrant and fits the film very well, so you'll have the best of both worlds. Watch it! I insist! =)

Seen over 2o years ago. Really misses this movie. If you are into Classic movies, you should check this one out.

If you’re like me and your first real taste of Anime came with Manga Video’s first six releases, then you should recognise this title and everything that’s great about it.The only complaint I have was that I put off buying this for so long because it’s incorrectly listed on here as a Region 1 dvd and comes with a warning that it won’t play outside of the USA.As you can see in the picture, this disc is actually Region Free (which is true of all the US Manga releases that I own, come to think of it), so if you’re like me and you’re putting off buying this because it ‘won’t play’ in your DVD machine, don’t!Do however order it as soon as you can afford it because this film has always been a classic and if you’re a fan of genre, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this one!

まず、普通のBD,DVDレコーダーなどで再生できます。海外用の95分版と日本版139分の2種類が収録されています（少し得した気分）海外版は字幕なしで視聴できます、日本版は英語字幕はオフにできません（画角調整ができるプレーヤーでは字幕を画面の外に移動可能とは思われます）特典映像などは付いていません。まあ、作品が作品なので高額で購入するものではないと、おもわれますので、こちらをお勧めいたします。もしくはLDかVHSで安く購入しても（私はLD所有してます）よいでしょう。間違っても1万円以上で購入する作品ではありません。参考になれば幸いです。（画質は普通DVD画質です）

シュリンクカバーを剥ぎ取り、ケースを開けて中を確認したら、ディスクがストッパーから外れて脱落しており、盤面を見たらかなりの擦り傷が付いてました。これだったらオークションサイトで中古を買ったほうが安価で済んだと思われるので、バカな買い物をしたと航海ならぬ後悔をしています。
