great little machine
Works great;I haven't had it for long enough yet to know if it will break in 6 months. But I will tell you it makes ice quickly, each batch of approx 10 cubes takes around 15 mins and then drops into a tray. This process continues until the tray is full. The cube shapes are bullet (small or large size configurable). The inside of the machine is insulated but not refrigerated so if not used the ice will melt back into the water container and be re-frozen (which is not a problem). The ice maker fits easily onto a countertop and requires no plumbing. It is easily filled with approx 1 gallon of water. It is quiet and very easy to use.We are using it in an office environment - approx 60 employees - and we have been leaving it on 24/7. Because the cubes are made much faster than a traditional freezer installed ice maker; the ice tray refils very quickly which is helpful.

We like the Koldfront Ice Maker.
We have been using our Ice maker for about 6 months and it is very reliable and makes nice little ice pellets. It does make some noise, but I have gotten used to that. It has been really nice to have a constant supply of ice on hand without having to use space in the fridge for an ice maker or ice trays. Ice in the maker melts back into the basin and is remade into new ice if it isn't used. There is a power button that we leave off between times when we might use ice. There is also an indicator for when water needs to be added. This machine makes it easy to enjoy ice water or to ice other beverages. My husband who loves gadgets wanted this and I was reluctant to give up counter space, but I have really liked having it and it doesn't have to be in the kitchen, just near an outlet. We just keep a bottle of drinking water nearby to add to the basin. The directions say to use water that has some mineral content.

Small, light, and fills our needs
We bought this to add to our ice supply in our RV. We think it will really be a big asset when we learn how to use it efficiently. Unless it is cold enough to need indoor heat, use it outdoors. It generates a lot of heat. You can really speed up the process by using very cold water in the reservoir. The cubes are small and a bit wet, but they cool adult beverages nicely.Of course, I wish it was faster, and the cubes bigger and colder. However, it is small, weighs under 20 pounds, is inexpensive and easy to use and provides extra ice when dealing with a tiny refrigerator in hot weather. We believe it will fill our needs nicely.

Wonderful!
I am very pleased to have this ice maker. I never have enough room in my freezer for ice cube trays, and even when I do it takes forever to freeze ice cubs that way. The best points about the ice maker:1. It keeps a constant supply of ice available.2. I only have to add water every day or two, and then it takes only a few minutes to freeze up some more ice for me.3. The cubes are much smaller than those made in ice trays, and so work better in slimmer glasses.I can't vouch for how well it would serve as a bar accessory or for when you have company, since neither of those are something I care to do; so read other reviews for opinions on that.It may seem a little expensive, but to me it's more than worth the price.Treat yourself to some icy luxury and buy this!

Ice Maker
I have searched for a long time for an ice maker. We live in an RV and do not have a lot of room. This icemaker is a perfect size for an RV - be it camper, motor home, fifth wheel or pop up. It's compact size makes it easy to store and use. I keep mine under my dining room table because I do not have a lot of countwer space. The only thing I have to complain about is the fact that in the description it says it makes three sizes of ice. It really only makes two sizes. Small and Large. It took about an hour to make a full basket of ice, but just a few minutes and I saw several small ice cubes. It is not noisy and so far works like a charm. It was supposed to be delivered between 7/21 and 7/26 and arrived on 7/20. What a great company, and I would buy from them again.

Loud Unit and Poor Customer Service
I am writing this review after a very poor interaction with the customer service dept. for this product. I was looking for an ice maker about a year ago and selected the countertop uint. After using the unit during the summer it was loud as was pointed out in some of the reviews I read before my purchase. However the main issue I have with the unit is its quality and the customer service. I purchased the unit on Nov. 2 2010 and in less than a year the unit was no longer working. It would make only one or two ice cubes in the time it took before to fill the tray. I contacted the customer service department and was told that I would have to pay for labor to fix it but parts were covered. My options all were based on me having to pay shipping both ways to a repair location and then pay for the labor to fix it. I payed approx. $130 for the unit and the shipping both ways was going to cost me approx. $58. So the math was pay 50% of the cost of the new unit plus the unknown labor cost and end up with a repaired unit when I could buy a new one for nearly the same. I explained my issue to customer service and got the standard company line that this is all they could do for me. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE UNITS! They break before a year of useage and the company does not do anything to help you with repairs. COME ON, I have to pay shipping both ways!!

Produces good ice, but too noisy to be on continuously
Makes excellent ice cubes as advertised, but with surprising noise. At first this was not an issue, but did eventually become one. What I did was collect the ice and store it in my freezer from time to time, turning the unit off as I did so. Here I had to deal with the ice freezing together, but found that striking the bag against the counter separated the cubes just fine. So I now have my ice and relative peace and quiet. Other reviews mentioned this issue, but I didn't give them sufficient weight. If I were to do it over again, I would pay more for a quieter unit, if I were sure it was quieter! It is in cases like this that actually visiting a store and listening to a unit would be worthwhile. Right now, the Koldfront is ok, but on "off" a majority of the time.
