Hollywood legend JOAN COLLINS teams up with cult stars DONALD PLEASENCE and CAROLINE MUNRO in this terrifying tale of a demonic baby! Lucy (Collins, DYNASTY, LAND OF THE PHAROAHS) is a former dancer, having moved up in the world via marriage to the wealthy Gino Carlesi (Ralph Bates, HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA), and now comfortably settled down. Lucy is expecting and when the time comes, she goes to the hospital to give birth to the baby. The new-born infant is no ordinary baby, either, as it slashes Lucy upon leaving the womb.

A Poor Man's "Rosemary's Baby"
But I'm a poor man, so I thought the film was very good. So, plotwise, there is little difference between this film and all of the other possessed-baby films of the era. Thematically, there is no difference. Baby is possessed. Medicine can't help. Medicine admits it cannot help. Turn to metaphysics/religion. Brave religious protagonist sacrifices to deliver baby. Everyone (pretty much) ends up dead, but at least the baby is exorcised. Soft music. Roll credits. There are some pretty big plot holes in this one, but if you are a horror fan, you are, by necessity, accustomed to exercising Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Willing Suspension of Belief." That being the case, you'll make it through this flick as well. The one truly distinctive and unique aspect of this film is the absolutely INCREDIBLE beauty of Joan Collins. I was a teenager in the 80s, and saw her at a somewhat later time in her life. She was beautiful then, and shockingly so, but to see her with the full blush of the rose in her cheeks is absolutely incredible. Everything about her is perfection, and having seen her in this film, I seriously question why she is not mentioned more than, say, a Raquel Welch, when it comes to the lists of iconically gorgeous actresses. If you can't get into the film, you nevertheless won't be able to take your eyes off of Joan Collins.

Decent Film Couple of sound dropouts on the dvd
The film is ok.Not A classic but is watchable especially since it has good actors Ralf Bates and Donald plesence in it. I noticed a couple of small sound dropouts during the film.I was able to try a second copy it also had the dropouts.Probably not a glitch just in the sound elements used for the disc.

She was awesome to look at
The only REAL reason to watch this film is for the kick ass clothes Joan Collins wears throughout the whole thing. She was awesome to look at. They did make that dwarf a little too creepy. It's all about her cool hair, clothes, and great home decor.

The Devil's Baby
Minor horror film (a.k.a. I DON'T WANT TO BE BORN) with touches of ROSEMARY'S BABY and IT'S ALIVE. It moves at a quick pace, but offers nothing new to the the horror genre. Not bad, but not very good either.

Donald Pleasance in control Joan in rare form
Joan is just wonderful. It's more watchable than expected. The baby is in your face evil- no sinister suspicions. He is evil right away. Donald Pleasance is a comforting presence for the audience, if not for hysterical Joan...

Boring
Awful plot. No suspense. Waste of 2 hours. Watch Rosemary's Baby again, instead.

Don't overlook this little movie!
I randomly caught this movie around 2am on TV and at first it looked pretty ridiculous. And I was somewhat right on the ridiculousness, but it's quite entertaining.

The devil within her
I BOUGHT THIS FILM MAINLY BECAUSE I USED TO DO A DOUBLE ACT IN ENGLAND WITH GEORGE CLAYDON, A LITTLE PERSON WHO APPEARS IN THE FILM.. IT'S CLASSED AS A HORROR FILM AND BELIEVE ME, IT'S DEFINITELY THAT. VERY CREEPY. ENJOY.
