I got confusted by some of the people that think this is not a good 4B pencil because of the hundred in the description. Don't listen. I had very old 4Bs and this is the same same pencil. I needed more of these for block ins. I don't like using 5 different pencils as my art teacher does so I use this to block in, tones, and even do the shadows by pressing darker. Less trouble than having 5 different pencils of different graphite tones. When I really want to do a great job I put shadows in with 6B or 8B. I am not a professional, just love drawing and this is my tool of choice along with a good used (older version) panasonic auto stop pencil sharpener. An older artist told me about it. New ones aren't as good. They are cheap on eBay. If I had to sharpen my pencil as my art teacher suggests with a razor or exacto I wouldn't draw. I break leads right and left doing this. I respect the artists who have the patience. Those long long leads sharpened this way produces beautiful work, but my work is pretty darn good with this sharpener. I have five of these Steadler pencils sharpened and ready to go before I draw. Great product, buy so they don't stop making them. I dont' want to buy a whole set just to get a 4B. Won't linger on that, though, since theses are fantastic drawing and sketch pencils. Top is the current design, bottom is the older one from decades past. They're great pencils; they just usually run from $1-2 per, so it can get rather expensive to only use these for your drawings.
