Great Buy
As a NY cat, never thought I would be saying this but Detroit is killing it right now and Gas Mask by The Left is the latest example. Love The Left and loved the album start to finish. Don't know much about these guys other than this album, so apologies for any inaccuracies, but I understand Apollo Brown did the production on this and he absolutely killed it. Love his samples of soul tracks that had a distinctly motown feel to it, but with a real hip hop makeover. Reminds me a lot of Bronze Nazareth - by far and away my favorite of the Wu affiliates. The beats and flow of the songs are on point with Bronze's The Great Migration and the album might be even more consistent than that classic b/c it has less features so better end to end flow. I was looking for a new album to cop so I wouldn't kill Kno's Death is Silent and was worried that anything would be a disappointment after that gem, but this album more than held its own with what I had thought was the runaway Album of the Year. If you are a fan of great production, album flow, and tight introspective lyrics Stop Sleepin and get this now...

For Underground Real Hip-Hip Heads This is For You...
This album flew under the radar for me but I am glad that I finally came across it. The Left is a 3-piece hip-hop group consisted of Journalist 103 (rapper), Apollo Brown (producer) and DJ Soko (Turntablist). They all work & compliment each other very well. It has that undergound Detroit sound & for 19 tracks it's an easy listen (it seems like its over before I know it) which is rare. Don't sleep on this album like I did & cop it! For real hip-hop heads only.

Best HipHop album of 2010 So Far
Gas Mask is by far the best album I've hear this year. Apollo Brown is quickly becoming my favorite producer in the game and has certainly filled a big chunk of that hole that J-Dilla left us with. This is what hip-hop music should be. The whole album is cohesive, the lyrics solid, and the production is flawless. Has that rustic jazz feel to it that we've come to expect from Apollo Brown. If you're a hip-hop head, this is a must have!

Detroit Classic!!!
This is a Classic 90's, NY style album right here! Apollo Brown has been a consistent producer, since day 1! He reminds me on how Marley Marl, Pete Rock & DJ Premier were, back in the day, when the demand for their sampled masterpieces were high!

Wow
Been awhile since I've had a NEW hip hop album on repeat for days. Music like this makes me sad about the direction mainstream hip hop has taken. Seriously, this album is what hip hop should be. Top to bottom it's a work of art, easily the best album I've heard in YEARS.

apollo brown saved my life
I downloaded this 4 years ago when it came out and finally got round to buying it. Apollo brown is one of the best producers around. You need this album if you like raw and real hip hop at its best. I heard this album just as I was getting a bit bored with hip hop and it was a saviour.

Danke Danke DankeR.I.P. Sampling = hip hop
