Season 12 (region 1 release): Spongebob is back!!
Let's be honest here: Seasons' 10 and 11 of SPONGEBOB were awful, with barely a handful of good episodes between them. Gone were the clever and witty scripts of seasons' 1 to 9 to be replaced by unfunny slapstick involving characters pulling silly faces, making exaggerated movements and being injured in comic ways. Kids might love such things, but the reason Spongebob endured for so long was because it appealed to older viewers as well as young.Fortunately, season 12 has reversed the trend and given us some great episodes, although there are still a fair few duff instalments here to remind us that Spongebob is well beyond its' heyday. For example, we get a great episode like KNOCK KNOCK, WHO'S THERE? right next to the weak & unfunny PAT HEARTS SQUID. But on the whole, it's a definite step up from the last two seasons. If nothing else, the season should be lauded for the brilliant 'birthday' episode and the surreal image of the Spongebob voice cast acting out a live action scene while using their character voices. But, we can't gloss over the fact that this is NOT the "complete" season, with Kwarantined Krabs inexplicably pulled from the DVD release. I can sort of appreciate why it isn't being shown on television, but not putting it on a DVD set that people will still be watching years from now when Covid is (hopefully) long gone?? Bizarre.

Be careful...only one disc received
Be careful if you order this, as I only received disc 3 of the 'complete' set. Can't fault Amazon customer service, they refunded the total amount within 30 minutes of raising the complaint, but couldn't send a replacement, as it was shipped from the US to the UK.
