If you want permanent rust proofing then this is the only product out there worth buying, It sets like porcelain and rust will not come back. I have restored a vintage Ferrari with this stuff, a fiat 500 and even coated my old cast drain pipes with it. Use metal prep solution first from por15 before you use this and take care not to get it on your skin as thinners or paint stripper will not remove it and it goes a very long way. I can definitely vouch for this product and I live in Scotland near the se where it rains most of the time. I wouldn't use anything else as rust proofing goes as this is the best there is.

The POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is one of the most effective rust control products I’ve ever used. I have used this product on a vw beetle pan top and bottom and I am impressed with it's hardness and ability to flow on smoothly with a brush. I actually used it on metal that was not rusty so I can not attest to its use over rust. I also used the POR-15 Metal Prep and found it superior to other products I tried. I removed all of the paint and rust with a grinder using a metal brush attachment. As a result, the metal was shiny and too slick for paint. The Metal Prep etched the metal perfectly and the paint adhered with no problem. I actually had to remove the paint off of one part and it does not come off easily at all. I used the POR-15 Topcoat where the paint will be exposed to the sun. This product is a little more difficult to use as you have to thin it a little and paint quickly. I strongly recommend following the product instructions. Use a small measuring cup with a handle to remove only enough paint that can be applied with a brush in fifteen minutes. It dries rather quickly. Do not let paint get into lip of paint bucket without removing it. If you replace the lid with paint in the groove, you will never get the lid off. I learned this the hard way. Great product!
