Be Weary Of "Slim" Versus Regular
It's hard to accurately assess this item because the product comes up as two different "names" on Amazon. In the past, my purchases have been for "Levi's Mens 527 Bootcut Jeans." Now, that same product link takes me to "Levi's Mens 527 Slim Bootcut Jeans." (Note the subtle addition of "Slim.") Numerous reviewers have noted this issue. My first three or four pairs were great! No issues. Five stars! They're - by far - my favorite type of jean. Since discovering the 527 line, I've become a Levi boy through-and-through. The jeans have a flattering fit, they're very durable, and they come in a variety of colors and styles. I have yet to find any jeans to beat them. That said... when I went to order more (January of 2013), I noticed the product's name changed. Even if I click the item straight from my past purchases (which has no note of "Slim"), it took me to "slim" 527s. Reviewing the jeans in my closet, I can find no note of "slim." However, there's very little note of anything on them - other than "Levi 527." Assuming that Amazon wouldn't simply change the product name, I went ahead and ordered two more. The pairs that I ordered seem noticeably smaller. I vaguely remember past pairs starting off "snug" before being broken in. After some stretching and washing, they eventually end up fitting perfectly! However, these new pairs seem much smaller than I remember (a.k.a. "borderline uncomfortable"). I'm giving them a shot to see how they shape up, but I'm pretty convinced they really *are* a different type from the first - hence the new addition of "Slim." Why it suddenly changed? I have no idea... The most recent order (the "Slims") also have no note of "Slim" on the actual product's tags, etc... Thus, it makes it impossible to know if they're any different from the past ones I've ordered. With clothing, there are so many factors. (e.g. In what country was this specific pair produced? Could it be a bad batch? Have a grown/shrunk? Etc.. etc...) Long story short... To my knowledge, I know and love "Levi's Mens 527 Bootcut Jeans." They get my five-star. I think there are some new slim ones running around. The slim ones may now be all that you can technically order via Amazon, because I presently see no other options for the "regular" ones. Stay tuned... =]

Different colors are different FABRICs
I LOVE the 527 Boot-Cut Levis. I,m a tall, very slim (size 30x34 jeans) 55 year old man who dresses very casual (lots of Hawaiian shirts). The thing I've learned from buying many different "Colors" of Levis is the huge variation in fabric weave and weight of the denim for each particular "color". I haven't figured out all of he specifics of all of the varieties that I've bought, and the jeans don't seem to have the Color (and again, the weave & weight) anywhere on their labels, but here's some info that might help: My favorite are the Andi, because the fabric is very thin, light weight, and soft, perfect year-round here in the Santa Barbara climate. Most others are very much like the classic Levis of old, and some have a very interesting, almost striped weave to them. Some others are made from very thick, very heavy, and rather stiff denim, sorry, without any help from the labels, I don't know what "color" they are. I wish Levis would make a size 29x34 527 (not just in Andi) .I have a pair of 29x32 that fit my waist better than the 30s, but they're just too short. Very few of the different lines (model #s) of Levis come in size 30x34, and I've never found any in 29x34. Also helpful, in comparing the 527 boot cut to the 517 boot cut: The waistline of the 517 is much higher, whereas the 527 is more of a low-rise fit. :-)

Great for slim men
Finding jeans for my tall and lean husband is tough, and we always have to order online b/c his size is not sold in stores. We originally found the 527s at the Levi outlet store (they ordered the right size for us) - that was a little over a year ago and they've since thinned out enough that he wanted another pair (he wears them multiple times a week for work). Amazon had them on sale, of course, and with lots of colors to choose from. They did accidentally send us 34-30s instead of the 30-34s we'd ordered, but overnighted the right size and we returned the others (and I could do it all online and didn't have to call, which I love). I love the color (andi) and cut of these. It's a simple style, which my husband loves. They're nice enough for him to wear to work and don't stretch out too bad or shrink a ton in the wash (he even likes to dry them in the dryer every time they're washed and they've held up well). 4 stars because the fabric is super thin, but finding a fit like this is tough when you're long and lean and the price is great for a pair of jeans that will hopefully last us another year.

Make it like was.... and how you described it too
Seriously, it seems like there's a conspiracy to get everyone wearing tight, skinny jeans, notice how the 557s are no longer available, and look at the pictures showing Levi's different styles here on Amazon. Only part of the description that matches the product is "low waist", they are tight in both seat and thigh for anyone with a regular build, if you work out don't waste your time with these. Bought two 527s to replace an ageing pair I was extremely fond of, purchased right here on Amazon, these two new pairs even don't fit exactly the same. 527 is supposed to be the straight boot cut Levi, not anymore. The new jeans are much slimmer and the leg opening is narrower by at least 2 inches, it's nowhere near the 18" advertised. These are not boot cut jeans by any stretch, you'd expect a brand like Levi's to do better. They are actually skinnier than the Levi's Men's 517 Boot Cut Jean which are supposed to be the slim boot cut style, and have a wider leg opening. Styling is completely off. I've always worn Levi's and was really happy I could get the ones I wanted online, but I won't be buying them from Amazon again. If I could give zero stars I would, that's how disappointed I am.

Different color, same fit
Tried something different from black, given the fit of the model. Color is nice, fit is fine as well (which is not to be taken for granted even you keep buying the same size). Overall good choice.

Too long
Fit pretty true to size in waist but length is way longer then stated. Returned for shorter leg length. They are very light weight denium compared to normal denium but thats ok, good for summer.

Not sized like my previous pair of same jean
Apparently not all 34x30 Levi's 527 boot cut are the same size... a much smaller waist on the new pair make these too tight to wear...while my original levi 527, 34x30 are quite loose
