The bees who make Terre Umbre's Chestnut Honey take their nectar from blossoming Umbrian chestnut trees. Chestnut (Castagno) Honey is smooth, creamy, dark and rich, with hints of chestnut and smoke. Although honey is the sweetest of foods, chestnut honey retains an earthy, semi-sweet essence that is sensuous and rich. It is commonly enjoyed spread on toast, accompanied by Gorgonzola, Pecorino or Grana. Like any honey, it is delicious dissolved in tea or by the spoonful to soothe a sore throat or for a quick boost of energy. This premium honey is made by Terre Umbre in Perugia, Umbria's capital city. Terre Umbre is well known and appreciated in Umbria for the quality of its products. The brand was founded in 2005 by Luca Brugnami whose mission was to create, produce and distribute the best Umbrian food specialties while scrupulously respecting their traditional, local recipes. No honey should be fed to infants 12 months or younger.
