Q: Will this power my outdoor difinitive technology speakers? they say 4-8 ohms. also, does this have an a,b and a/b speaker ser up? or do all speakers

Yes it will but you also have to have a volume knob and amp to be able to turn off speakers outside or in other rms

Q: My system won't turn on. Do I need batteries?

No it has a problem with the timer that auto turns on as an alarm disconnect the power and it will last a while. I’m not happy with this product but can manipulate to function

Q: can you control which input plays in which output/zone? how many output zones can be defined? can it be controlled via iOS app?

Yes for both questions. Just make sure you add volume controls I have 4. 1 controller runs 2 speakers
