Branches and the green clumps to create trees. There are green and yellow powders to put in little sifters to accent different areas. I paired this with another kit to get a base as well as more trees and grasses. I felt it necessary to have both to make the forest area look full. I created a fox habitat diorama and it turned out great but was very messy and tedious work **Q: What size base does this need and will a cardboard box do or does it have to be plastic or another waterproof type strong box?** A: if you’re only using what’s in the box and not adding anything additional, you’ll need a base of approx one foot square. Thick cardboard or a piece of balsa wood will work. **Q: Does this kit come with a base or do you have to purchase a base separately? If you have to purchase a base what size?** A: Yes you have to buy base separate. The size depends on which diorama you picked. From the picture it looks like this is the small one. **Q: could it be used with 1/35 military scale military models and figures?** A: 1/72 would be more to scale.
