An Inexpensive and Practical Way to Purchase Ink for Computer Printers
This ink comes in a 16-ounce bottle, together with a 5 ml syringe and a 1.25-inch needle. It is compatible with various ink jet printers (see other reviews). It is not for laser printers. I have used it with satisfactory results in HP 92 ink cartridges. These cartridges apparently do not include any chips that will deactivate the cartridge when the ink runs out. Rather than rejecting empty or clogged cartridges, my HP 1510 printer goes through the motions of printing, but, of course, produces blank pages. This ink seems to work as well as HP ink. There are several possible strategies for determining when to refill a cartridge. (1) Refill the cartridge periodically after a certain number of days have passed. (2) Refill the cartridge after printing a certain number of pages. (3) Wait until the printed image begins to fade. Adding ink at this point will eventually restore original performance; but it may take some time for the added ink to reach the printer head. Until it does, the printed image will remain somewhat pale. (4) Measure the ink by inserting a toothpick in the correct opening in the top of the cartridge. It is not necessary to remove the label to locate this opening—it can be found by applying finger pressure to the label. Do not insert the toothpick further than 1.25 inches into the cartridge. This is like measuring the oil in auto engine crankcase. For example, if the ink covers ½ inch of the toothpick, the cartridge is roughly 40% full. After measuring, add ink as needed. All these methods require some guesswork. Before filling a cartridge, transfer some ink to a small, relatively wide, bottle that cannot easily tip over. Do not work from the large bottle in which the ink is supplied. Place the cartridge on a paper plate or piece of wax paper. You do not need to remove the label. Note that the ink reservoir in an HP 92 cartridge actually occupies less than half the space inside the cartridge—the rest of the space is empty. Ink should be injected through the centrally located hole directly over the printer head (i.e., the deepest part of the cartridge). The ink reservoir in an HP 92 cartridge has a 10 ml capacity. But fiber filler reduces this capacity to only 5 ml. It is best to refill the cartridge before it is nearly empty, and to inject less than 5 ml of ink. Draw 3 or 4 ml of ink into the syringe from the small bottle by pulling the plunger out of the syringe (note the calibrations on the syringe barrel). Inject the ink into the cartridge slowly. Injecting too much ink, or injecting it too quickly can cause overflow or flood the printer head. If ink begins to overflow the cartridge, the excess can be drawn back into the syringe by raising the plunger. Note that this ink is water soluble, so it can be cleaned up easily, but if you work carefully you can avoid spills and overflows. After injecting ink into the cartridge, you should flush plain water into and out of the syringe about five times to ensure that the needle is not clogged by dried ink.Since the 16 ounces of ink in the bottle is somewhat more than half a liter of fluid, it should provide enough ink for over 100 5 ml refills (proportionately more if refills are limited to 4 ml). It can readily be seen that purchasing ink in this manner is much less expensive than buying 100+ ink cartridges.

I'd buy it again... if ever run out!
wow. So i saved my old HP black ink cartridge when i swapped it out so that i could refill it, and man was it easy. I did have a needle to fill the cartridge with so if you dont have one im not sure how you're supposed to get it in there. with the syringe i filled about 5ml? but i wasnt sure how much to fill and so i tried to put more and it overflowed out the opening. no worries, i was prepared to make a mess... i was filling ink into a small windowless box. so after i removed a little bit and cleaned up the anticipated mess, i popped it into my HP ENVY and printed a black copy. All looked perfect so just to convince myself, i removed the (now old but refilled) cartridge and inserted a genuine new one, and copied the same paper again. i can not tell the difference at all. i can try again with maybe something more intricate to reproduce and look for errors but i mean at that point its a witch hunt. between school assignments and coupons, our printer gets it's black exercised well enough. i only wish i purchased a smaller bottle! its like 100 refills! im not sure if this stuff goes bad but given another chance i'd go for like a cheaper 3-color + black kit. Figure aside from spillage (BTW try to wear gloves, it'll make life simpler if you have them on hand) a 30mL bottle should be about 6 refills in a black cartridge, thats like half a years worth of black let alone color. oh and the smaller kits come with a needle usually. bottom line, this is good ink and if youre like me its about a lifetime supply

I feel like I found a way to cheat the system! Very economical.
I have a Pixma iP2820 printer that I got on the cheap for online grad school (I hate trying to read on a screen) and realized that the ink cartridge only lasted me about 50 pages! Was a little upset when I saw that a replacement cartridge was $26 and other reviews for the printer that complained that cheap printers weren't worth the price of ink. I felt pretty ripped off, but then I did a little digging and found this bottle of ink refill.Luckily a syringe was included in the package (you NEED one to refill your cartridge) and after watching some youtube videos I was able to refill my ink cartridge and get printing again! THIS IS AWESOME!!! It will last a long time too, Well worth the cost of this bottle vs. buying replacement ink cartridges!!!It does stain skin/clothing/surfaces so be careful. I accidentally overfilled my cartridge the first time and it leaked for a little through both sides (I just mopped it up with paper towels) so I made a mess. Know how to do it correctly next time though! Also the printer is still reading the cartridge as empty (videos said this is typical and to find a way to reset your printer, which I did after some playing around with it.)Regardless, this is SO much better than paying for new cartridges, or even paying for refills through a store! Very excited to find a way around the stupid printer/ink business scam and get the most use out of my little printer!

It works, Save lots of $$$ if you're handy and have the time.
Ink works great, but this process isn't for everyone. If you have time and want to save money it works well. I may have put too much in my cartridge (roughly 10 ml), so it was seeping out of the bottom of my cartridge at first. I scanned several copies of a dark piece of paper on grayscale to quickly drain excess ink and now it seems to be working perfectly.Cost savings in my case: $15 per HP cartridge, $11.15 for this ink that lasts 47 fill-ups (10 ml per fill-up). Cartridges ware out, so lets say I replace mine every five fill-ups with a new, full HP cartridge (bet you can buy new-empty ones way cheaper). 47 replacements later that's $705 if I stick with replacing HP cartridges every time. With this ink it's $146 (9 cartridges at $15 each plus $11.15 for the ink to refill each one five times). I doubt my printer will last that long, but I can use this ink in my next printer, thus my savings can transfer with me.The bottom line: Do it if you have an hour to fiddle with your printer / ink cartridge and you want 382% off your cost.
