READY TO SHIP Soda Fired Porcelain Dottie Shaving Bowl One of a kind. There can NEVER be another one exactly like this one as the look of this bowl is created by flame and soda moving through the kiln. This bowl was fired in our friend and fellow potter May Wong's gas fired soda kiln to over Cone 10. Soda firing is an atmospheric firing technique where “soda” is introduced into the kiln near peak temperature, usually 2350° Cone 10. The "soda" used was sodium bi-carbonate, also know as baking soda, The soda, once introduced to the heat of the kiln, will vaporize and bond with the surfaces of the pots altering the glazes to create unique one of a kind pieces of pottery.
