Comparison of Top Performance Socks
I picked these up alongside a few other pairs of "high-end" socks for a backpacking trip through southeast asia. After reading through nearly a hundred different sock reviews (exciting I know), I finally decided on my final 3 pairs:Darn Tough Vermont Men's Merino Wool No-Show Light Cushion Athletic Socks, White/Gray, LargeDrymax Run Lite-Mesh Mini Crew Socks, Black/Grey, LargeThorlo Men's Experia CoolMax Micro Mini Crew Sock, White/Black, LargeI was trying to find a supersock that could:1. Withstand daily use through hot and humid climates2. Was comfortable enough to do large amounts of walking including mountain trekking, rock climbing, and other active sports3. Endure long periods of use without smelling4. Wash and dry fairly quickly/easily5. Wick away moisture to keep your feet dry and coolIt's now been over 1 year since I purchased these socks and since then they've been used extensively throughout all types of climates throughout the world. Here's how these socks have ranked out over time:COMFORT:1st - Thorlo Experia - This sock has padding in all the right places and the form fitting design makes the sock hug right to your foot. Probably the most comfortable sock I've ever worn.2nd - Darn Tough Wool - These socks are soft, thick, and comfortable. They offer plenty of padding when walking for extended periods of time. They do feel a bit bulkier than the Thorlos though, so they're better suited for cold weather than active use3rd - Drymax Run - The material in these just doesn't have the same softness or padding as the other socks. The fit isn't quite as form fitting, and the cushioning feel thin when walking for extended periods of timeDURABILITY: This category is a bit tough because all three soc have held up well over time. I still have yet to find a single hole, but I have noticed some thinning in a few areas.1st - Darn Tough - These socks are darn tough. No kidding. They are very thick and have a durable construction. No doubt these socks can last through long periods of use and abuse.2nd - Drymax - A bit thinner than the Darn Tough, but still resilient none the less. The elasticity of the sock did seem to wear out a bit over time though, so they felt a bit looser after owning them for a long time3rd - Thorlo Experia - It's tough to rank this one third, because I still have yet to wear this pair out. The only reason for this ranking is that the material in these socks is thinner than the other two. However, since these socks are padded in the toe and heel, these likely won't be wearing out any faster than the other two.COOLING ABILITY:1st - Thorlo Experia - The sock's thin material came through as a major plus in this category. These socks are both incredibly comfortable and incredibly breathable. They do a great job of wicking away moisture and keeping your feet cool.2nd - Drymax - These socks also do a fair job of keeping your feet cool and dry, but their thicker design means they feel less breathable than the Thorlos - as a result, they just don't offer the same level of comfort and cool3rd - Darn Tough - I was actually a bit disappointed with this sock. Due to the sock's thick construction, it doesn't feel nearly as breathable doesn't do a very good job of keeping your feet cool.DRY FACTOR:1st - Dry Max - Once again the sock manages to live up to its name. These socks were able to dry faster than the other two and were easiest to wash and dry than the competitors.2nd - Thorlo - These socks also did a very good job of drying. The main body of the sock would actually dry out faster than the DryMax. However, the padded heel and toe would take a bit longer due to their thickness.3rd - Darn Tough - Very poor performance in this category. When these socks get wet, they stay wet. Whenever I would sink-wash these socks, it would sometimes take almost a full 24 hours before they were completely dry.SMELL FACTOR:1st - Thorlo Experia - The socks thin construction plays to their favor again in this category. Because they are thin and breathable, the socks are able to ventilate better than the others, allowing for less build-up of bad odors.2nd - DryMax - These socks did a decent job at remaining odor-free. Because of their faster drying ability, they were good at preventing the build up of foul odors, and were very easy to wash and dry. The didn't ventilate quite as well as the Thorlos though.3rd - Darn Tough - Again, poor performance in this category. Unfortunately, moisture wasn't the only thing that they held onto. Due to their thicker construction, they did a much better job of retaining bad odors - even after sink washing them. I eventually had to give up on trying to wash them, and just hid them at the bottom of my bag until I could get them to a proper laundry machine.CONCLUSION:1st - Thorlo Experia - This sock gave the best overall performance by far. These ended being my go-to sock both while traveling and when heading to the gym at home. They offer exceptional comfort and cooling ability, and despite the 3rd place durability ranking, they are built to last. I would hands down recommend these over the other two brands for both travel and athletic performance.2nd - Who cares? - Do you really want to buy the second best sock? Just buy three pairs of Thorlos and save yourself the headache of having to read any more nail-biting reviews about socks.

This model has a design flaw-don't buy it.
Every single pair I bought of this two material made sock (in black AND black/grey AND beige) blew out the seams on the bottom of the sock where the silk mesh attached to wool leaving one and often two large holes on the bottom of the sock. I expect a sock to last for a while if sold at a premium price. Socks started dying every wash after 6 months and none lasted more than a year. If you buy Thorlo I recommend NOT buying this particular sock. I did not have the same issue with the socks that were made of a single wool fabric. The picture attached is of the last remaining sock which is still around for unknown reasons. I'm not sure why as it has no partner and a HOLE. Perhaps it just returned from the sock black hole through the sock portal in the dryer and found the party was over. Sock is now in trash.

Best Running Socks for Long Distance Running, Comfy Too!
I bought these socks for a Christmas gift for my running buddies. I own a few pairs myself. Let me tell you, they are some of the best socks to run in for long distances. First, the extra cushion under the ball of your foot and on your heel are great! If you need cushion for your run, these socks will give you that. It also provides compression which helps with blood flow. Then the rest of the sock is breathable. The moisture-wick component allows for your feet to stay dry. I sweat a lot! These socks really help to keep the moisture out. I highly recommend that everyone owns socks like these!

Important Sizing Info Missing
I looked at the sizing information and found nothing. I wear a size 8 shoe so I figured a medium size would be correct. When the sock arrived the attached tag says the Medium is for a women's size 9.5 - 11.5 shoe. So I actually needed the small size sock. I wish the information was available in the description.

Solid choice of running socks for any distance
I've worn many different types/brands of socks, so the below is based on these experiences:Breathability: 8 out of 10- The material is a little thicker than some of types of socks, which is somewhat of a limiting factor here. Still, all in all a very breathable sock.Comfort: 10 out of 10- Very comfortable for any distance. They aren't as "tight" as some other running socks (in other words, they don't feel like a quasi-compression like material), but personally I like this. The material itself is also very comfortable. They also don't feel heavier/unpleasant when they are drenched in sweat. You don't notice it until you take off your shoes. This is a good thing.Chafing/Residual Negative Effects: 10 out of 10- I haven't experienced any unpleasant surprises after a run wearing these socks. That's a good thing.Note that they are pretty low cut socks, despite how the picture might look. So if you have a running shoe which is a bit rough in the back by the achilles heel (all runners know what I'm talking about here), then that part will rub against your skin. But otherwise, you're good to go.

The socks are great - but the sizing chart is confusing
The socks are great - but the sizing chart is confusing! These are listed as "women's socks" but are actually unisex. On the package I received, it shows the Medium to fit Men's shoe size 8.5 - 10 and Women's shoe size 9.5 - 11.5. I wear a size 8 so this is crazy large. They really need to fix the size charts so that it is clear. Need to reorder myself a small....Lesson learned.

My Ultimate Running Sock for Blister-free feet
I have suffered from blisters for years whilst running and no matter what combination of shoes/socks I've used, none have helped. I always come away with blisters on the underside of my foot after around 10 miles. Before a recent half marathon I picked these up. I know its not a great idea to wear un-tested socks for a race, but since I was guaranteed to get blisters anyway, I saw little risk.I crossed the finish line some 13.1 miles later and not a single blister on my foot. I've repeated this multiple times since and still no blisters.I've since bought multiple more pairs and these are now my only running sock.

These are very, very short!
Don't trust the photo as it's completely misleading. These socks only just cover the heel making them mostly useless for running unless you like blisters on your Achilles tendon. Shame as they look well made and feel comfy apart from the chaffing.

Great hiking socks.
I love these socks. I got them for summer hiking and they do the job perfectly. They stop my feet from getting too hot and therefore swelling, which was making my hiking shoes rub. They are super comfortable also. I also went running with them and they were perfect for that.

Excellent for running
This is the second pair I bought. I use them on my long runs and I can comfortably run on them 15km. When I first wore them I thought that they will slip down into my shoe but that never happened even once! My feet stay dry and the overall feeling is excellent.

Excellent
These are the best quality running socks. Padded in all the right places but cool also, so perfect in summer and winter when pounding the pavements. My husband loves this brand also. Really good quality - worth every penny in the blisters they prevent!

Good value for money
Fantastic for the money. I have Morton’s neuroma in my toes so need constant protection. These do the job but are not as thick as thorlo 10.

Surprisingly comfortable for small socks
I like this brand, but wanted to try the short version for summer. These have the comfortable pads that the longer socks have and fit well.

I couldn't workout without Thorlos, they make a big difference if you are running or doing circuits. Great product!

Great sports sock
Less adventurous colour, great fit. Service from supplier was good too. Obviously, and for no clear reason I can fathom sports socks cost a small fortune. At least I know I have invested in a comfortable purchase to protect my feet and toes.
