Yes it does require a 3.5 mm jack, if your jack does not work it may not be turned on in the software? Or a bad connection and should be easy to fix! Go to the web and type the model number and the problem and you might find a quick fix or help, also try Youtube! Hope I helped, Mike

I don't think so..... they are hooked up to an "out" plug on the computer, which is different from an "in" plug. Mics and speakers have different compositions
