Compared to Dr. Dan's Cortibalm + shipping
Just ordered this a second time and decided to leave a review after being wholeheartedly impressed by their shipping speed. I placed the order during the afternoon (around 4 PM) and reasonably expected it to ship the next business day. But amazingly, it shipped off at around 9 PM that night. And this is WITHOUT it being eligible for prime shipping. The first time I ordered this product it shipped same day and arrived faster than the estimated delivery date, so props to PharmDuo for prioritizing their delivery for the customers! (EDIT 8/15/17: Got it delivered today on Tuesday when the earliest estimated date was this Thursday. Thanks again for the fast arrival!)Now as for the product: I ordered it due to severely chapped lips from being on a second round of isotretinoin (Accutane). Before this, I used Dr. Dan's cortibalm a few times some years ago on my first round and found that hydrocortisone infused lip balm was truly the way to go. So I was surprised when I stumbled upon Lipster's medicated lip balm recently as an alternative. Since Dr. Dan's product got considerably more expensive over the years, I decided to try Lipster out instead. To compare the two, Dr. Dan's uses petroleum jelly and beeswax while Lipster goes for a more vegan stance - incorporating essential oils, mineral oils, and shea butter. And I will be completely honest: in my personal experience, Dr. Dan's Cortibalm does provide more instant relief, BUT Lipster's medicated lip balm gives more long term alleviation and speeds up the healing process better. As to how I can tell? I used to use Dr. Dan's product before Lipster, and I would put it on during the night before sleeping and would wake up with sharp pain on the sides of my mouth. My lip corners would be cut from all the dryness and it would hurt to open my mouth to eat, talk, smile, etc. No amount of the Cortibalm would work, so I just accepted the result because hydrocortisone based lip balms were still by far better than any other chapstick or lip balm I tried. But ever since switching to Lipster medicated lip balm, I haven't had that issue. At the very least I make sure to put Lipster on my inflamed lips before sleeping, and would wake up to my lips looking visibly healed (as if I don't have any chapped lips at all). No more pain either!Basically, in short there's not too much difference between the two but Lipster is a better choice because of a few reasons:-better all encompassing relief and faster healing-cheaper while getting the same basic function accomplished-and lastly: PharmDuo gave me a FREE Lipster original lip balm alongside the medicated lip balm without any notice whatsoever, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise upon opening the package. Regardless of any rating, I would've given an extra star just for that!I'll probably be switching to the Lipster original lip balm once I'm done with my isotretinoin medication, as I hear long term hydrocortisone use isn't good for you (steroid creams end up thinning the skin). I assume that's why the directions say not to apply more than 3 or 4 times daily (although I'm guilty.... I'm too addicted to the relief they provide...).I also appreciate that they list a disclaimer on their page about the taste of the lip balm due to the hydrocortisone in it. I don't expect medicated lip balm to taste great, so people giving bad reviews because of it should have read the product description carefully.

Saved my lips!
I came across this while finishing up a course of accutane (isotretinoin). For anyone taking accutane, you know how horrendous your lips can get. Mine were red, swollen, sensititive, and I frequently got little blisters on my lips from the inflammation (not cold sores). I have accumulated quite a collection of different lips balms, trying to find one that actually gives me relief. Aquaphor is great, but not something to be worn during the daytime. I found a similar lip balm earlier in my course of accutane called Dr. Dan's Cortibalm, which has hydrocortisone in it as well. I would say both Lipster and Cortibalm work just as well in calming the swelling and in my case the blisters, and after a couple of days work to prevent blisters. But towards the end of my course I came across Lipster and it seemed like Cortibalm just wasn't keeping my lips from drying out. I am so thankful I found this! This actually keeps my lips feeling moisturized and protected. I have found that I don't have to reapply as often. A great thing about this is that there isn't any menthol or camphor which are in a lot of the popular lip balms you can find at any checkout line, and when I tried some of those while taking accutane, they just burned and burned. Lipster advertises its use of natural oils and butters, which really wasn't something I cared about too much, but now that I've been using it for over a month, I can say that it seems to make such a big difference. I finally feel like a normal person with close to normal lips, no more clown lips, something I haven't felt in a long time.P.S. I live in the US. I'm not sure if you can get Lipster if you live outside the US, but if you can, trust me, it is so worth it! I have tried some of the popular stuff from Australia, Pawpaw ointment, and Lipster still wins in my opinion!

Tastes bad, think it’s helping
I have had severely flaking and chapped lips that have been worsening over the past six months. After becoming a lip balm expert with mild to no results, I began doing my research. I have health insurance but I want to avoid any medications if possible. I realize this is a steroid but I feel it’s more mild than what a dermatologist would prescribe so I wanted to try it first. My lips have improved some in just days but the taste is bad and inevitably when this ends up in my mouth I need to be near a flavored drink which is a catch 22 so I am not able to wear it at night for fear of waking up gagging. For those times I go with lanolin (lanisoh brand) over straight vitamin E. I also substituted my toothpaste for a sodium laureth sulfate free paste (before starting this balm) and within days I had some relief. I believe I have some allergy or sensitivity to the toothpaste based on where my mouth is irritated and how many other people seem to have the sameness problem. If you’re most irritated where you spit out your toothpaste (I had two large spots of irritation in those areas) you may want to switch to an SLS free toothpaste. Even if you’re not allergic it can be drying and if your lips as peeling daily who needs that?!
