Is this hat heavy? My husband likes a hat that isn't going to give him a headache after a few hours

No. Very light. However, this hat was a piece of garbage. Straw was literally disintegrating in several places. Wasn't even worth the effort of sending it back. Terrible.

Will this hat fit a 7 3/8 (large)?

Yes it would be perfect for this hat which comes with a one-size-fits-most liner which generally tends towards bigger sizes
