The ONLY solution to connect my Mac Studio to my Samsung QN90B with HDMI 2.1/HDR

Just bought a Mac Studio and THEIR OWN HDMI does not support HDMI 2.1 consistently when connected directly to a Samsung QN90B. HDR would only be supported at 60hz or less, and restarts would randomly change the frame rate and dynamic range back to SDR. CableMatters' own USB-C to HDMI 2.1 cable also failed to support HDM! 2.1 well. However this adapter consistently keeps my Mac Studio connected to the TV in HDMI 2.1, with a consistent 2160p, 144hz, HDR configuration. Shame on Apple for sucking so bad at HDMI implementation, but CableMatters fixed it.

4K 120hz HDR from M1 Max MacBook Pro

After what feels like years of searching, finally found an adaptor that enables 4K 120hz + HDR from my M1 Max MacBook Pro to my LG C1 48". What a game changer. Make sure to get the MacOS version if this is what you're looking for.

Great for a high res second monitor

bought this for our new Mac Mini M4 to connect the second monitor on my wife's work area. Running two new Dell 27" high res IPS monitors. Works great, image is great. I tend to generally like their products and am usually not disappointed.

Does what it says

Mac version works really well and I got immediate 120hz 4k off usbc on a16" M1max Macbook Peo and an M2 Macbook Air. Only downside is it runs very hot. Makes me wonder if it will last.

This version does not require firmware upgrade

Cable Matters 48Gbps USB C to HDMI 2.1 Adapter (201488 macOS-specific model) is good. I used it to connect a Mac mini M2 (2023) to a Sony XR-75X90L TV and successfully increased the refresh rate to 120Hz. The picture runs clear, the mouse moves smoothly, and the whole computer responds quickly without updating the firmware. Recommend this product.

Worked for a bit, albeit with hiccups. Now, not really. I know I was pushing the limits though.

So I got this adapter in hopes of upgrading my 1660 Ti with a HDMI 2.1 port. Why? To run 4K @ 120Hz and Full RGB/ 444 for HDR purposes. I know, I'm stretching the bandwidth limits of the hardware. Technically the USB-C port which comes from the 1660 Ti cannot do the full 48 Gbps. A non-thunderbolt USB-C is speced to top out at 40 Gbps. I knew this before I bought the adapter.Yes, I got it to run the above. But I have now had the adapter for a couple of months and the image disconnects have just gotten worse. Now it is having difficulty even connecting at all. Perhaps something got cooked. It was getting rather warm. Not USB flash drive hot though. My biggest other complaint is that something is not translating with the audio channels. If I take the same HDMI cable and plug it into the 1660 Ti's HDMI port. I can get it to see my 4k/8k AVR at 24bit and even run Dolby Atmos no problem. But with this adapter and the mini displayport version of this adapter (which I also bought) I just cannot get the PC to run anything other than 16bit. Also, I cannot even get basic 5.1 to work properly anymore. It is intermittent and most of the time I end up getting the sub channel on the left rear and my center channel on the right rear. Sometimes it does work perfectly for a couple minutes though. And no, there isn't a mis-wired speaker, the home theater works fine with a Roku and PS3 attached. This is not an HDMI cable issue, as I am using a certified 8k cable. My conclusion is that if I want the above I need a new GPU or PS5, which is almost saying the same thing. This device will give you an additional video port at high resolution, but don't expect any multi channel sound to be reliably pulled through it or HDR.

M4 Air, LG B2 Oled, 4k-120Hz-HDR

Finally, a USBC adapter that works with my Mac's, 4k-120hz-HDR, while connected to an LG B2 Oled. No flickering, no audio issues, no disconnects. I'd imagine that newer LG's would be fine too. I didn't need to update the firmware, I just plugged it in and it's good to go. Macbook M4 Air. -Thank you!
