Saiyuki: Requiem [DVD]

This movie is lowkey a psychological horror movie and it’s AMAZING! One of THE BEST anime movies I’ve watched EVER! I can’t go into the movie without spoiling but it is worth the money 100%!!!!

The Sanzo party has always been haunted by the past, and most of the time they've been able to deal with their ghosts. But when they enter The House of Dougan, they may not be so lucky! Lured to the mysterious shrine by a beautiful girl, Sanzo, Goku, Gojyo, and Hakkai become ensnared in a trap of dangerous shikigami, murderous doppelgangers, and a malevolent monster who has destroyed his own soul for a demented purpose.A DVD-only release including a 95-minute feature presented in English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 with English subtitles. Extras include: character profiles and art gallery, interview with creator Kazuya Minekura, Japanese promos and TV spots, voice actor commentary with the men of Saiyuki, reversible cover, fold-out poster insert and ADV previews.

If you're into the Saiyuki series, then Requiem is definitely worth seeing. A lot of times when anime movies get dubbed, they'll get new voice actors, but for Requiem they kept the same cast as before, so it was easy to stomach on that alone. Plot-wise, it was excellent as it integrated elements from the original story so that it was an addition to the series instead of its own little subplot. 10/10

This movie was every bit as good as the series itself. It still has all the raw emotion of the episodes, packed inside a single movie. We get to see more of their pasts and they meet a new enemy as well. Definitely a must buy for Saiyuki fans!

I never really finished this series, but from what I do remember this movie does a great job of adding to the original story line. the adding of 3D elements, like the water and the leaves give texture and depth to what would flat. in all the story line gives us a glimpse into the past of our heroes.

I have the entire DVD collection of this story. The characters are interesting and well developed. You can't just have this DVD, you need the whole set and even then you want to know more.

I fell in love with the format and the kick butt attitudes of the Saiyuki manga and quickly followed up with getting the DVD and movie. The movie was received in top condition and there was no defect with the video itself. It took a while to receive the order, but I was pleased to have received it and in good order.

There is no question that if you enjoyed the TV series you will love this.First things first this movie doesn't really affect the main story in any way- so you can feel free to watch it no matter what stage you've gotten to in the series. (I watched after episode 25 and had no trouble understanding it).One thing you will notice when you watch this film is that the fight scenes are much more fluid than those in the series, they feel more intense and more thrilling because of this.The story itself is slightly weaker than the action but is still easily as good as anything from the series.I don't want to spoil anything for you so I wont go into details with the plot.The point im trying to make is that if your a fan of the series then there should be no hesitation in buying this movie.If you've never seen Saiyuki before then try and watch a little of the series before going for this movie as it will just help you understand the main characters a little better. I promise you will enjoy!!Thanks for reading!
