2 1/2 inch Plastic Strainer with Nylon Mesh

I ordered 3. Two were fine, though the mesh is quite flimsy. The third had a mesh size about twice as big as the other two, and it was not attached to the rim for about 3/4 of a inch of length. They are heat melted to join, most of the joins were a little messy. They will work well for using in pickle (jewelry) and okay for food, but they do not really compare to the excellent one I have (for kitchen) that I acquired many years ago. That one is labeled "Rosti 502 Denmark." I wish those or something of that quality was available today.

Oh my goodness this is TINY. I got it for straining kefir grains, but it's too small to hold all of them, so I just use it to catch the grains that float on top:). The one I recieved is orange. The mesh is very fine. This is a very light duty strainer, which is what it's for: jewelry. The quality is ok.

This product is well made. The nylon mesh is fine, like that of fine mesh on stainless steel strainers. I would rather it be a finer mesh (like a woven fabric, but couldn't find one—even on Amazon). What I like most is that it can be used in a microwave (I freeze my leftover parsley and cilantro into cubes with a bit of water). I then nuke a few seconds to get the melting started when I want to use it in a recipe. There is no worry of getting tiny particles caught in the seam where the mesh meets the outside edge of the strainer because the seam is perfectly smooth. I'm not worried that the mesh will become detached because the edge is fused to the plastic border. I do have one complaint: At $7.95, it's overpriced.

My wife uses this for her kefir and it works good for her.
