KYGO B9/800 WiFi Smart Bluetooth 4.2 10W Speaker, Waterproof with Google Assistant - Black, 69092-90

After reading the other reviews there's obvious misunderstanding of this product. It's two products in one, which work independently of each other:1. A Bluetooth speaker (Battery or Mains)2. A Google Assistant Speaker with Chromecast built inIf you just want a bluetooth speaker you don't need the Google Home app, which has nothing to do with bluetooth btw. It's for Google's own and 3rd party Google compatible Smart Home, Google Assistant and Chromecast devices.I wasn't able to put mine into BT pairing mode out of the box but I believe this is just because it arrives with not a lot of charge in it. The manual isn't clear but the red power button flashes blue when it's in BT pairing mode.Personally I don't understand the complaint, on battery only, after 90 minutes it turns off. It would only be dead after 8 hours if left turn on on battery anyway.How it's intended to be used:At Home:- Install Google Home and use it as a Chromecast speaker because this is done over Wifi so has a stronger signal.- What's cool about Chromecast is it plays the audio/song directly from the Internet. Turn your phone off and it'll continue to play. Because it's not your phone doing the work it doesn't affect phone battery too.- You can also add it to a Speaker Group from the app using any Google Nest, Chromecast or third party Chromecast built-in speakers. Works great.NOTE: If your home has multiple Wifi Access Points a limitation of the underlying technology Chromecast uses (Google Cast) means you can only see devices that are connected to the Access Point your device is on (e.g. Phone). For me this meant ensuring all my devices are connected to my Wifi Extender and now my phone can see them. If your home only has a single router this point isn't relevant to you.Away from the Home (or not Wifi):- Use it as a bluetooth speaker. In this regard it's no different to any other bt speaker.- Or use it by connecting a 3.5mm cable to your device (cabled included).Improvements:1. It's a chunky monkey, if you want a small bluetooth speaker this may not be it.2. Its what you expect for a £20 bt speaker. Perfectly acceptable.3. Battery life is fine but some bluetooth speakers last 24 hours, they don't have Chromecast though.4. I'd prefer if the red flashing power light went off.I think it's great. It does everything my Google Nest Mini does but with much better audio, a battery and it's waterproof. Why Google why don't Nest speakers have a battery?

At £20 each these just can't be faulted IF you have android and you're using them via chromecast/Google home.The reason for this is after the latest update they can be paired as stereo.This increases audio quality and seperation to a massive extent if you have a pair of them.The only issue I have is that via chromecast or Google assistant the audio is a tad muffled due to the heavy rubber casing - using this method there's no possibility of any equaliser or bass/treble settings so the audio you get is the audio you get.You can make one speaker sound thoroughly decent via Bluetooth using an equaliser on your phone/tablet but you can't pair in stereo via Bluetooth.Battery life is excellent, I have fully submersed one of these in the bath for trial purposes and it is as advertised fully waterproof.I would absutely recommend as a rechargeable travel speaker in single form for the beach or maybe the bath/shower room but if you're using Google assistant/Chromecast and want this for the garden or bedroom then absolutely buy a pair of them for stereo sound - you will not regret it.

This is a great device when it's freshly charged - loud enough to hear over a power shower.Unfortunately it turns itself off after 90 minutes of not being used... And you can't change the timeout.That means it sits in the bathroom waiting for a voice command for an hour and a half after we've left home.It also means that every time we go into the bathroom we have to reach into the shower, turn it on and wait until it boots up which takes over 30 seconds.Unfortunately there's no warning light for when the battery is approaching empty.No lights remain on when it powers down no matter what state the battery is in.All these things contribute to how often we go to turn it on and find it is empty.I was surprised to find the device on sale at a price so far below the original asking price,but I now realise that my experience must reflect those of many buyers.A firmware update which allowed you to change the power timeout and allowed for a warning light to be active on low battery would bring this up to a 3 or 4 star product.

This was the only affordable portable speaker I could find which has Google Assistant, I wanted it for the bathroom, where there is no mains supply so I could not have a normal Google nest speaker. Given the price it is better than I thought - the sound quality is pretty good, and for me that Google Assistant is a big plus, because I use voice control (for Spotify mostly) all the time. Battery life isn't great but you can't have everything at this price.

Awesome for the price as a chromecast based and Google home shower or bathroom speaker. It comes with a small plug with US and EU adaptors so can be charged via a shaver socket or using a bulkier UK adaptor elsewhere in the house. I wouldnt use it for main audio but in the bathroom, bedroom etc or as a waterproof Bluetooth speaker outside its greatEdit thanks to Mathew Hewes review managed to find the pairing option in Google Home as had 2 of them (1 in each bathroom) so now have stereo in the shower. However does mean I might have to buy another 1 or 2 for the main bathroom now.... 👍Note they don't act as a Bluetooth pair, only via google home
