Sole Survivor:A unique game, Erased from C&C History
This game was developed as the potential of the Internet and the idea of large numbers of players playing all at the same time was a new idea. This game was a multiplayer only game, and it had no single player campaign. Basically, the idea was that you selected your unit, and the unit could be any of the Command & Conquer units (Including the dinos). You had a series of maps, displayed in the traditional C&C isometric view. The game was simple, Capture the flag. Each team had a base that defended their flag. Once the towers were destroyed they wouldn't respawn. You controlled your unit with point and click mouse movements, and you had to "Crate up" to max out your unit (and team) abilities (speed, firepower, armor, etc)The game was very simple to understand, but very hard to master. You really did need to join a guild or Clan to make the game any fun, and you had to become skilled at using your units, moving, firing, dodging, etc very carefully in order to be successful. This is where the game could be frustrating, as "campers" or "Sealing" was very common. Many people tried the game for an hour, decided it sucked, and never played it again. The reviews of the time reflected this, and the game bombed commercially. However, if you stuck with it, and especially if you played in clan matches, this was a fun game.Unfortunately due to it's commercial failure Westwood quickly pulled support for the game, updates, maps etc stopped, and a few years later the online servers were taken down leaving you nowhere to play. The game literally was erased from the C&C lineup and it's history, and in fact if you try to find it at [...] (or anywhere else) you'd come up blank, as it it never existed.Too bad, really.

Eh, Alright
In principle, this could be a pretty fun game. You get to control C&C units, get upgrades, destroy enemies. In practice, it's got some major flaws:1. Need a lot of players - The game doesn't get to be that fun until you get a critical mass of players. Too few and you'll spend a lot of time just getting to people.2. Unbalanced units - Some units are just plain better than others, at least in deathmatch mode (capture the flag helps unit variety some, but not incredibly). There are more than a few units that are just plain suicidal to use in almost any context.3. Not many players - Even years ago when this came out, it never really got that popular. There's very little point in being able to have 50 players in a match if there are only 50 players in the whole world playing the game at once. Unless you're all great communicators, I guess? Finally, to my knowledge no servers still exist to host this game in multiplayer. The single player is just about useless, so unless you are just a die hard C&C collector I can't imagine anybody recommending this game. Pity, but c'est la vie.
