Rosenthal's long-established and highly successful Suomi porcelain pattern, designed by the Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva in 1976, represents a milestone in the company's Studio-Line history. Suomi embodies Rosenthal's standards for excellence and authenticity in modern design. It takes its inspiration from the natural charm of smooth river pebbles. The organic moulding, between circle and square, has been awarded the highest honour conferred in the world of porcelain: the Gold Medal of Faenza. The Salad/Dessert Plate in this series measures 8-Inch and is dishwasher proof.

Exact replacement for the original
Was very happy to find replacements for my broken plates. Have had these since 2005, and only two broke (neither one by me!!). These are the exact same as my originals. The packaging was extremely good, double packing in bubble wrap and a thick cardboard box with copper staples. I'm very fond of my Rosenthal dinnerware. This salad plate has a nice curve, and the design is a subtle white on white of concentric circles from edge to center. Despite what the bulls in the china shop in my house do, my dinnerware looks as good as it did in 2005.

Satisfactory replacements
A few years ago I replaced my everyday china with Rosenthal Loft. Have had no problems with any of the pieces except for the salad plates, a few of which have chipped in the course of normal use. I was glad to be able to replace them so readily through Amazon--although it looks like the pattern may have been discontinued, so not so easy to find in the future.
