Nice synthetic strings for the price
Nice clear sound and pretty stable pitch after a few days. A little difficult to get much variance dynamically but overall nice strings for the price.

Decent synthetic strings for students
Spirit strings are a good deal if you can't spend any more than this. They bring out a nice sound from your instrument. They have a little more power and gusto than Pirastro Tonicas, which is their primary competitor (similar product at exactly the same price point). However, the Spirits are not as responsive as Tonicas, and they aren't as pitch-stable off the bat. The Spirits would be great for someone learning violin. You can make lots of beautiful music with them, as long as you don't want them to speak really fast. For only slightly more money, the regular Vision strings from Thomastik-Infeld are a HUGE step up from these Spirits, at least on my fiddle. The Visions have way more dynamic range, focus, subtlety, and super fast response. However, every violin responds to different strings differently, so YMMV. If this is your first experiment up from cheap steel beginner strings, you'll definitely notice your fiddle sounding much nicer with these strings. However, there are LOTS of string options out there, and they will all behave differently on your fiddle!I only gave three stars primarily because of the slow responsiveness issue, especially notable on the aluminum-wound A string. Also, for what it's worth, the product description claims that these Spirit strings have a "low tension" but they actually are not that low compared to other synthetic strings.
