Deluxe two CD edtion including a bonus disc called The Kitchen Tapes', which contains the demos Williams recorded for the album right as they were born at her kitchen table, where she does most of her writing. 2011 album from three-time Grammy Award-winner. Considered by many to be one of America's greatest living songwriters, Williams lives up to that and more by delivering 12 songs that cover an even wider emotional spectrum than her previous work, without moving too far in any one direction. It's nothing new to see Williams tug at the heartstrings and stimulate the mind with her songs, but there is a vibe throughout Blessed that is unique to this album in-particular. It's the sound of the wisdom and experience Williams has gained through her years as an uncompromising talent. Combine that with Grammy Award-winning producer Don Was at the helm, and something special is born. Was co-produced Blessed with Eric Liljestrand and Tom Overby, who co-produced Williams highly-praised Little Honey (2008). Blessed features special guests Rami Jaffe on keyboards, Matthew Sweet on vocals Greg Leisz and Elvis Costello on guitar.

Yep.
CD 1 made me cry so much I was afraid to listen to CD 2. The pure, raw 2 takes it home. Someone could be critical and that would just be someone being critical. Lucinda knows it, can write it, play it and sing it. She is pure talent.

Love this girl
Love this girl...fabulous songs, hell of a band. All I want to do is acknowledge a superb finished effort and briefly respond to a couple of reviews other fans have made of this work in the past...if you don't like the music, that's ok, but you go overboard when you turn criticism into a personal attack on the performer...you do yourself as well as the artist a disservice. Lighten up..it's only rock and roll.

but it takes its place very comfortably alongside her other great work
This album steps back just a bit from the more raucous side of Lucinda to give us some tunes that have the fragile tenderness she showed on "Essence" … It doesn't top Car Wheels or World Without Tears, but it takes its place very comfortably alongside her other great work."I Don't Know How You're Living" and "Copenhagen" stand with her best stuff and "Convince Me" is just a flat-out classic. Great music from a great talent.

A tiny bit undecided!
Bought a couple of the deluxe versions of Blessed, one for me and one for a friend. Unlike 'Car wheels on a Gravel Road' 'Live at the Fillmore' 'West' and 'Little Honey' this one has not done it for me yet. I usually buy a Lucinda Williams album and play it over and over...this one has not had the same effect. I find the tracks on the Don Was produced CD quite interesting but they don't seem to grip me - the second or 'kitchen' cd is a tad mournful - almost (dare I say) miserable and I wonder if its just me having problems with'Blessed'? The friend who I bought a copy of 'Blessed for thinks it is great, along with all LW's works....I better put it on again and try to hear what I'm obviously missing!

Up There with the best
This album s, perhaps a bit of a slow burner. There are perhaps a couple of tracks which stand out at first and these get under your skin enough to keep replaying the album.I'm thinking about "I don't know where you're Livin'" and "The Ugly truth" both as good as anything Lucinda has done. The other songs become more and more accessible whith listening. There have been changes to the musicians and lead guitarist, Doug Pettibone has departed. The sound is mellower (slightly) because of this. After replaying lots of times over several weeks I think that this is her best album at least since "World Without Tears" and far better than the patchy "Little Honey"If you like Lucinda you will not be disappointed. Its just great.

An absoulute diamond of an album..Love it!
This album is just beautiful....lyrics are thoughtful, moving, soulful and rocking, muscianship is as always brilliant.Seeing Black is a tour de force, guitar sound is unbelievable.Copenhagen is a gorgeous song. The title track, Blessed carries you along with it's layered sound, I never want it to end. The intro to Ugly Truth is so righteously rich. After a few plays this album becomes an old friend as the words and music enter your conciousness. I have most of Lucinda Williams albums since 'Car Wheels' and have been fortunate to see her perform live a couple of times, she's a true artist and one which gets in your head and heart.

Blessed is Best
I love Lucinda's music, and recently saw her perform live. I have several of her albums, but this has to rate as one of the best, if not the best.I play it over and over. I am hooked. Copenhagen: Blessed: Born to be Loved, and so many more great tracks. If you are a LW fan, you will love this album.

Lucinda is Blessed twice over
2CDs, one studio recorded and one done at home. Exactly the same songs, however, which is rather a shame. Still, you don't really expect two albums for the price. An acquired taste, but very much Lucinda, and, as far as I am concerned, a pleasure to hear her again.
