Manueline lines and ornamention
Sometimes it’s enlightening to come to composers late and w no knowledge of their work. This CD is a very pleasant surprise and has been spinning in the player a lot lately. To my ears it’s as if an eastern European music master threw himself into Manueline lines and ornamentation then paced the pieces to simulate a boat taking frosty wave after wave while saluting modernism. Strains of Boulanger-like twists and vistas are laid over an engrossing soundtrack that pinches Prague and Lisboa in equal measures. I found it impossible to absorb in a single listen and still am not sure I fully grasp all that it has to offer after a month of listening. Good stuff here.

Good stuff
An enjoyable selection of trios. The Costa is very good, and I am still trying to discern how Azevedos's trio relates to Janacek's 'In the Mists'. Would like to hear more chamber music by these composers. Meanwhile looking forward to volume two of piano trios.

Bom escuta.
