Not the Macallen version, but good for a gift @ 1/10 the price
Look my best friend loves scotch and sent me the macallan video where they melted & carved the perfect sphere ice cube. I researched a bunch of these ice shapers & the price was just outrageous (ie $400-2000). As alternative you can buy the $10 dollar ice molds, but it doesn't have the same effect. I thought for less than $100, I could get him something similar. Right out of the box he dropped an ice cube in the mold & the top slowly dropped. Afterward there was a perfect sphere. The package also comes with an ice cube tray to make square cubes to put in the mold.If someone you know is a scotch connoisseur, but you don't want to spend $400 to $2,000 on a gift this is for you.

Taisin 30mm ice mold + Glencairn whisky glasses = success
This ice machine does exactly what it is supposed to do. It makes perfect little 30 mm ice balls. I bought this small size because I needed to make ice balls small enough to fit into a Glencairn whisky glass, which has a 1.75" mouth. The other ice ball makers make ice balls that are too large.Anyway, it works like a charm. In seconds, you'll have a 30 mm ice ball that you can drop into your Glencairn whisky glass, filled with your favorite scotch or bourbon. The first ice ball I made was dropped into my Glencairn whisky glass containing Marker's 46 bourbon. I went into the other room to take a leak, and when I returned it was already melted. So take that into consideration. This small balls will melt quickly (even though they're spherical). I put in a second ball, which didn't melt so fast.I have a video review on youtube. Works great but is smaller than you'd think.
Item works as advertised but since it is SO SMALL it doesn't have enough weight to press the ice into completely clear spheres. They go to great pains to tell you the size of the unit and the spheres that it makes but it will still surprise you with how small it is.

Can you say "overkill?"
I don't care how well this device works, it is ridiculous to spend over $200 on this when you can get a mold that will make two larger ice balls for $10. Seriously.
