can i mix paint with the latex before you cast it or will it mess it up

If I was to stitch two pieces together would the latex tear?

it depends on how thick the latex is and how much tension is on it. It can tear, yes, I in fact DID stitch two pieces together with much tension and it began to tear... however you can paint latex onto one side and it will hold the pieces together. If you want to have the stitches show then just paint the side with latex BEHIND the stitches.

How long will this store for before it needs to be used/replaced? (first time using this material)

As long as you keep it closed it should last. Maybe not 2-3 years but it will last. If it starts to thicken up you can add a bit of ammonia to thin it back out

Would this be what I would paint on rocks to make skins for concrete stamping? Is it strong on its own, or would I press cheesecloth into while wet?

It is strong but cheesecloth would go a long way to help make it even stronger. I have used insulation in it for some of the projects i have done
