EARLY RISERS is Soldiers of Fortune's second album, and both are on Mexican Summer. They have been called a NYC hard rock improv collective, and we really really hate that description.   
 The band consists of Brad Truax (so many bands, but dude, Interpol?), Kid Millions (Man Forever, Oneida), Barry London (fuck yeah Oneida), Matt Sweeney (Chavez being his LEAST well-known operation should tell you something), Jesper Eklow (Meandering Tedium, sorry, Endless Boogie), Mike Bones already, and the elusive Papa Crazee (heavy early riser in team Oneida).  
 On this album the superior vocal stylings of the band's Healer, Shaman and Answer CLARK "YEREMIAS" BRONSON, STEPHEN MALKMUS, CASS MCCOMBS, DAN MELCHIOR, ETHAN MILLER and MATT MCAULEY were also enlisted. The result is the sound of utter confusion and unfocused tender hatred in song form. Meaning, we are truly obsessed with this album.  Not that we ever listened to it all the way through, but we're a label that TRUSTS THE ARTIST.  You should too.

Soldiers Of Fortune est une sorte de collectif constitué autour du bassiste Brad L. Truax, des guitaristes Mike Bones et Jesper Eklow (Endless Boogie) et de plusieurs membres d'Oneida et de Chavez.  Vous avez déjà une petite idée de la musique proposée à travers les groupes dont sont issus les différents membres de ce collectif.Ainsi, sur cet album de 2015, enregistré à Brooklyn, ils ont invité Stephen Malkmus, Cass McCombs et Dan Melchior pour chanter respectivement sur "Campus Swagger", "Old roman wall" et "Pure shame", avec une mention particulière pour la 1ère sur laquelle la voix de Stephen est vraiment plaisante et la 2ème, une sorte de blues sudiste de toute beauté. Le résultat d'ensemble est brut de fonderie, c'est du rock indé un peu garage, avec des accents blues, country ou psyché plus ou moins marqués. Il n'y a pas de ligne directrice, ça fait un peu récréation, tous les participants sont là pour s'amuser, et de ce côté-là, il n'y a pas à dire, ils ont l'air de prendre leur pied, à coups de soli de guitare furibards, de basse vrombissante et de batterie martiale. En tout cas, moi, ça me va complètement, c'est du rock sale et urgent qui fait du bien par là où il passe, et, de ce côté-là, je ne lui demande rien de plus.
