I haven’t tried to use it in this condition, bought the same gun again and won’t dunk it in solvent. I’ve sprayed oil base and latex enamel and it sprays pretty good. You need to have the right air pressure and dry air. You need to get the settings right on the gun. The paint needs to be thinned properly and the right tip for the paint of course. These things need done for any spray gun though. I’m not a professional painter but every time I have used this it has looked better because I have learned which tips work best for the different applications and paints I use it for. Spend the time and clean it properly so it will work next time I would suggest. If that's the case I would have to say no way. This is for shooting paints. To spray a gelcoat you might be able to take the nozzle off all together and spray like that.
