Available in 10 shades plus natural white, both the merino and the silk in this blend are top-quality and a true delight to spin, producing an incredibly broad range of fabulous luxury yarns with a good combination of memory, stitch definition, drape, and a subtle sheen only silk can provide. Louet's Merino/Silk blend is a highly addictive favorite among spinners at all levels. The un-dyed fiber takes acid dyes beautifully and is extremely popular with independent dyers and hand-painters. Saranac Shawl Design by Kirsten Gustafson-Kapur - Saranac begins with the long, peaked border, worked side to side on a small number of sts. The border is then turned 90 degrees, and sts are picked up along the top edge of the border. The crescent shape is created with short rows that are worked in the body of the shawl. Taking advantage of simple stitch patterns and a border that is worked sideways, the construction of Saranac shows off hand-spun, and hand-dyed yarns beautifully.
