The Wedding braid is similar to a unity candle, mixing of the sand etc. except it has more specific meaning. A marriage is a covenant between the bride, groom and God. Each chord represents one part of the covenant. Standing alone the ropes are not strong but when braided together the ropes become unbreakable and for the perfect marriage.
