Lee Michaels Barrel
This is a classic "60's hippy record (even though it released in early 1970). I have vivid memories of my older bro bringing this one home & spinning it nonstop until each line of every song was permanently etched in me. I searched & searched for a reasonably priced copy unsuccesfully long after the grooves wore out on the copy I bought back in the mid-70's.... I finally brokedown & downloaded it from Amazon digitally. I still have my old worn out LP cover & vinyl disk, so it's almost the same. For those that are familiar with Lee's hits and are curious for more, this is in my opinion the pinnacle of his career & should not be missed out on. When you listen to songs like "What Now America" and the stories it tells... I can almost feel my (long gone) freak flag flying 1 more time. Thanks Lee, for your soulful rants that hark back to a time when our voices unified us together with purpose. You were one of the unsung heroes of the American youth movement during our renaissance that changed the world forever.

Lee Michaels very best.
The rock duo of Lee Michaels, and Frosty on drums are back. This is by far the very best album the duo ever put out with great songs like the raido friendly MAD DOG. Other songs that rate in the great catigory are another of Lee Michaels anti war songs, WHAT NOW AMERICA, a love song any woman would love to have sung to her, UMM MY LADY and another radio song, THUMBS.Other songs include GAMES, AS LONG AS I CAN, and DIDNT KKNOW WHAT I HAD. This is by far the very best Lee Michaels album ever recorded. It is a must for your music collection.

Minor lyric changes have been made in Heighty Hi...but not a deal breaker...
Was very happy to find this oldie but goodie...One thing I noticed in the recording a few minor lyric changes have been made...Likely due to newer recording rules since the 1970's when this was most powerful...Still tho happy to get this music...and with Prime I found I got an auto-rip free at the time I made the purchase so that was an extra +++...amazon never seems to let me down...

Barrel by Lee Michaels
First came out when I was in my early 20's - loved it then and it sure floods back with memories hearing it. It's a bit dated (70's) and What Now America was a song about the disgust the young people felt about the Vietnam war. I always loved Ummm my Lady. What a great find on Amazon!

Barrel stands alone, it is Lee Michaels at his best
"Barrel" was originally put out in 1970 just before i started listening to Lee Michaels. My first Michaels disc was "5th" which came out just after this one. I saw this advertised many times but i never picked it up. Now i have and i can see where the "5th" came out of. It is interesting to see where the roots of some discs you are very familiar with come from. In fact in some cases you can actually find whole phrases from one song in others. Barrel is its own disc it stands on its own merits and is well worth the money to invest in it, and most certainly has that 70's feel to the music. IF you are a Lee Michaels enthusiast then you will NOT be disappointed in the purchase...spigomars
